Overall, I'm quite happy with this phone, and don't for a second regret buying it to replace my 6610i. I agree with all the pros that have been mentioned so far and have little to add, so I'll instead mention a few of the things that have been bugging me (although not enough to make me dislike the phone):
The side-button on the right enables push-to-talk, which is not available in my country, making it pretty much useless. It would be nice to be able to configure it to perform other tasks, or at least disable it, since I often press it when taking the phone out of my pocket, prompting me to enable ptt.
The SMS sent-folder will get corrupted when more than 40-50 messages are saved in it. When opening a message, it will instead show me a blank screen, or a message from the inbox. When looking at the folder through PC Suite, all the messages are correct though, so it's not the messages themself, just the representation.
As said, these are only minor annoyances, and does not make me regret buying it. If you're on the lookout for a clamshell-phone, don't need a lot of memory, and don't expect the camera to be anything more than a toy, this phone will not disappoint

I've had Nokia phones for quite a while and have had varying levels of success with them. I'm still trying to get my head around the phrase "Nokia Clamshell Phone", but I purchased the 6101 last week, and this being only my second camphone, my first being a Motorola v300, I can only compare the 6101 to that.
The 6101 is an attractive phone, much lighter and smaller than the v300, and with a cleaner and less funky looking keypad. Unlike the v300, whose side buttons were too sensitive and would change settings while being jostled around in the pocket, the 6101's side buttons are nice and stiff.
The user interface is easy to navigate, I like how when the gallery is accessed, the current amount of data stored in a folder is right there without having to dig for it. This phone has lots of nice little features that make it attractive.
The main screen is nice and bright, pictures taken with the camera are not bad considering that the highest resolution is 640 x 480. I'm also impressed with the simple photo editing tools in the phone, something my v 300 didn't have. What I don't alike about the camera is that you can't zoom in on the subject until AFTER you take the picture. That's a little backward to me.
The sound of the ringtones is loud compared to the v300. Although the playback of mp3 ringtones leans waaaaay too much towards the treble. Too brassy. The sound of phone calls is above average.
My main problem with this phone thus far is the lack of memory. The phone was advertised as having 4 MB of memory, but when I checked the free space upon receiving the phone, 2 MB was already taken up by pre installed ringtones, images and what not. It's nice that users can delete the pre- installed stuff, but even after all that, if you download a few wallpapers, ringtones and a game or two, your memory is pretty much gone, and then you have to buy a $50 data cable to offload the stuff to a PC. Nokia, next time add a couple millimeters of thickness and install SD card support. Your user will thank you.
All in all, I like the phone despite the lack of memory, and the bass acwards camera. It's light, simple in design, and not bad for Nokia's first attempt to jump into the clam shell market. I give this phone a 7 overall.

I've had this phone for about a week. It operates well and has good reception. Services like voice mail and e-mail are easy to use. Overall, I'm pleased.
Pros:
* The unit is small and very light. It comes with a lithium ion battery that can take a charge any time (does not require a full discharge to preserve battery life like older NiCad batteries).
* The keys are large and easy to use. The menu system is highly configurable.
* You can send and receive text or pictures to/from anyone with an e-mail address.
* Besides e-mail, the phone has an infrared port, so users can exchange info with a PC directly via wireless infrared (no cable is necessary).
* Reception and voice quality are acceptable. No horror stories. The handset has acceptable volume and the volume is adjustable.
* The phone comes with a bunch of nifty extras like a voice recorder, a stopwatch, FM radio, and a camera (stills and moving video).
Cons:
* The camera works well in standard or bright light, but it's not good at low light levels. Also, it doesn't have a zoom. So I would say the Nokia 6101 camera is mediocre compared to other cameras in phones and most digital cameras.
* After you push a button, the phone's lighted screen stays on between 10 seconds and 30 seconds depending on your menu level. Then everything goes black. You have to push another button to get the light back on. There is no way to adjust this (that I have found). This is a nuisance when you're learning how to use the phone, but it's not a big deal later on when you're familiar with the menus and quickly clicking through the various commands.
I have read comments here that say the phone is cheaply made, or is cheap looking. I disagree. It has a sleek silver and black outer case and seems reasonably sturdy. The buttons have a nice firm feel.
It works as advertised. It was worth the price. I'm satisfied.

I bought this phone because I found it for less than $100 without contract.
The box displayed a lot of features that I liked: camera, dual color screens,
organizer features, etc. Indeed, this phone a decently feature-packed
camera for the price. But soon problems arose. 1st problem: When I turn
on the phone I see blue light out the open side edges of the phone (cheaply
made phone). 2nd problem: Very quickly the earpeice went bad and I would
have to frequently tap the phone to hear anything (got phone replaced).
3rd problem: Over the past two months I have been getting an
unexplainable memory loss. The phone arrived with about 1200 kb of
available memory (both used and unused). But, with each passing week I
keep losing chucks of total available memory. Today I am down to under
800 kb (having lost about 130 kb over the past week). I keep erasing
stuff left and right, but the total usable memory keeps on dropping in step
with my actions. I don't think I want to try a third phone.

I got this phone a little after Christmas, and don't really have anything bad to say about it, except for the fact that it is so hard to find accessories for it! I just want to buy a car charger, and an ear piece for when I'm driving. I don't like the typical ear phones, I need the kinds that possibly go around my ear with a loop, but I can't seem to find any inexpensive ones, hopefully someone will be able to tell me where I can find inexpensive Nokia accessories.
I also love the FM radio, since I don't get very good FM coverage at work, I now use my cell phone at work, and the battery lasts me for about 8 hours, and if not, I just plug it into the charger while I'm also listening to the radio.
Another minor dislike that I have about this phone is that while using the camera, you are not able to ZOOM therefore, it does not take very good pictures, and there isn't really a flash, so the pictures comes out dark, so the camera, i would give a 5.

I've had this phone now for almost a year in association with my T-Mobile service. Actually, I'm on my second one as the first performed poorly enough that I asked for another one and the second one performed as poorly as the first.
First, the good. The user interface is great and gives you a good bit of flexibility for customization. You can quickly navigate to missed calls, your phonebook, and call log.
The five function toggle key has a good feel to it. A good thing since you'll be using it alot. I find the phone almost a perfect size. The LCD screen is large enough to be comfortably legible (though in bright light it can be hard to see) and the clamshell design is still small enough that you can put this in your pants pocket comfortably.
The bad. The handset earspeaker quality is quite bad. Voices have a thin, tinny sound and it you don't have the best connection in the world, the poor sound will exacerbate the situation. On nearly half of my calls I've had issues hearing what the other person is saying. And speaking of connection quality, it is average at best. It is bested by my new LG VX8300 but the real improvement comes with the incoming voice quality where there is a rather substantial margin in voice quality. The loudspeaker on the Nokia is decent. Actually the sound coming from that is of better quality than the handset earspeaker.
Compared to my new LG, the build quality of this Nokia does not stand up well. It feels a bit fragile and plasticy and I figure if I were to drop it, it would be adios phone.
Picture quality is not really important to me. A good thing as it does only a passible job at best.
I was quite happy with battery life. Standby time is among the best of any phone I've used and I never ran out of battery for extended or repeated calls.
Overall though, this phone was a big disappointment because it doesn't do the basic thing well that a phone should do. Which is for the listener to hear to caller adequately.

I have been a Nokia client since 1988 and have always been pleased with the quality, battery life and reception of their products
The functionality of the 6101 phone and the reception has been typical Nokia quality, however the construction quality of the 6101 phone is very poor. The case is chintzy has been a problem since I purchased it. The case is slippery to handle. I never found a decent case to purchase for a cover and had to improvise. I opened the case on a cold day and the corner cracked near the hinge, just opening the phone
I took the first one back as the keypad display was weak on the 5-6-2-3 side of the pad. T-mobile has a 14-day return policy so this was no problem; my instinct at the time was to go with another phone however they only had the Nokia 3220.
I think I will give this to my 9-year-old daughter and pick up the HTC, SDA when it comes next month.
T mobile should make this a give away phone.
The pros, good reception, easy to use, good battery life, good software.
The cons, cheap construction, shoddy workmanship, poor memory.
Nokia needs to address these issues if they plan on continuing to be a major player in the market. The business community market will continue to move elsewhere.

Ive had this phone for about a month and have had mostly good things to say about it. First the positives:
Cool Design
Faceplates
Loud Enough For The Nearly Death
Cool Ringtones
Now The Cons:
Camera needs MAJOR improvments like zoom
I like this phone a lot, I would have praised it mroe if the Razar wasnt offered with tmobile to go service. I guess i'm comparing it to that. The only other complaint I have is that the phone came with demo games but I cant buy the full version because I have to go service.
