To start, this is a great little phone. First Nokia phone for me. It has almost everything you will want in everyday use. And it does it all better than most. Got it online for free. icon_biggrin.gif

real MP3 play: good quality sound. Can not get very loud. Headset does not do bass very well. The software does not have all the features: like fast forward or tell you time on track. Can not put in shortcut. Not great but will do fine.

Radio: good reception. easy to use. can put in shortcut. see MP3 for sound issues.

Speaker phone: (loudspeaker). This works great. Better than any other phone I have had. People I talk to do not know that I am on it. I use it in my SUV with great results.

Voice dailing: bottom of the line feature. Samsung is light years ahead.

LED alerts: none. Other phones have a small light to tell you some quick info from a distance. With this phone you have to have it in your hands to see if there are any missed calls...

Pop-port: Why not use the same ports as very other phone uses?
So they can charge us more for a headset. icon_ermm.gif

Screen size: it will work, but would be better with a larger one.

Keys: good size. does not take time to get used to like some of the new weird desgins.

Size and shape: yes it is old style, but a good one. It perfect size to be in your pocket. fits in hand well. Change is not always needed and this shape is perfect.

Automatic key lock: it is great. Must have on not clam style.

Battery: good so far. I have had to charge it after 2 days of use. But that is 2 very intense days of use. Playing with all the features, taking pics and vids, listening to radio / MP3, showing my friends the new cool phone, and calls on the side. Not bad!

Conculsion: good phone. a lot of features. the features are useable and entertaining. fast reaction time. there are phones that do things better but cost more and/or too big and/or weird in shape. This is a great phone for the price (free) and can be used easily.

PS. Small issue: I can not get rid of the "Cingular" word on the main screen. Not cool, because it is right across my wallpaper of my baby's face.

This phone is excellent. I have had it for about 3 months now. I live in a very rural area and the coverage with this phone compared to my previous Motorola on Cingular is much better. The speakerphone is clear, the bluetooth works very smoothly, the camera is fun, and the FM radio works better than my world band one. I put a 128mb card in it to store MP3's and pictures and it is awesome. It is pretty durable too, I have dropped it a couple of times on pavement, and it is still fine. The only problem I have had is sometimes the wallpaper will go away every once in a while. Haven't quite figured that out yet, but oh well. Otherwise I would tell anyone to buy it, a great phone!

Just got my Orange 6230 Phoen last week. this has to be one of the best compact phone out there so far. even though it has a small screen the screen is very good. with many java applications available ths phoen has it all. i did consider the Nokia 6600 but with no cable to connect to a PC the only way is IR/BT which is hard at times to get working, though i dave a BT card as well. Battery life is good and much better than the 6600 and also it has xpress covers available.

I would thoroughly recommend this Phone to all!

Hello all, i just purchased a Nokia 6230, and i love this phone. Wow, before, i had a Nokia 7250i and comparing the phones you really see an improvement. the camera on the 6230 is twice as good (640x480 compared to 352x288). Yeah, i really like the mp3 function, it's amazing. It actually sounds very good. Everything's been going good with my phone so far. hopefully i'll have no problems. and yay to my first post!

I returned a v551 in exchange for the 6230 and I haven't looked back.

I was trying to give Motorola a second (actually 3rd) chance, but once again, the v551 showed the true Motorola colors. I don't know who's writing software for Motorola, but they need to go on a field trip to Nokia.

My gut told me to go with the 6230 right from the beginning, and I wish I had listened to it.

Battery life has been awesome, even with my Bluetooth headset.

The only gripe I have with this 6230 might be the inability to change the functions of the arrow pad. It's a pretty big disappointment, but not a deal breaker by far. At least one of them isn't programmed to open the rediculous internet access. I hate phones with that garbage (such as a dedicated internet button).

I've also been having trouble with the voice dialing freezing up. I plan to visit Cingular to look into it. Perhaps a bad unit. I'm sure it's not normal for Nokia phones.

icon_smile.gif Nokia 6230i is a quite good telephone. Simple and reliable...is a useful tool. Based on an excellent menu the 1.3 megapixels can create beautiful JPEG photos. Powerful FM radio and classic design. Although, to be connected with a PC is not so easy. Even if you find the proper software you still missing some things. The major disadvantage... the video format files video.GP cannot be opened by Media Player. There are solutions but all of them are time consuming...

Just bought a nokia 6230 3 days ago. Cost me singapore $368. i really love it!! It has so many nice and itneresting features..

1) firstly, i noticed the numbers on the buttons are blue..so cool..(i realized its only coloured blur..actual light is still white, but doesnt matter!!)

2) the display is super white compared to the 3100 i also have!

3) the response is really too damn fast mab!! (not too..but its really good!!) compared to the 3100, its really so swift when moving between menus, etc.

4) can use grid type menu..its really nice..and innovative.

5) its loudspeaker is also very nice and clear!

6) the camera is damn good!! 640X480 is really good enough for me..can take pics that are so clear looking on the phone itself.

7) can take vids to 4 mins..yes though vid quality is quite low, its something very fun to have in a phone..sound is good, though!

icon_cool.gif has bluetooth and inflared!! so cool right!! when i get my bluetooth dongle, im gonna make full use of it!

9) mp3 player!! Thats partly one of the reasons why i got this phone...can save on buying a seperate mp3 player...one day i may buy a bigger mmc and install mroe songs into it.

ATM, cant think anymore abt it...

bad thigns are
1) centre selection key hard to press..i like those track ball type found in sonys..but i dun like sony phones! Too bad 6230 doesnt come with it.

2) design slightly old fasioned and too matured, i'd like something slightly curvier...but tis also good as buttons are so neatly arranged, not like those new nokias, that its very easy to sms!!!

3) battery ran out in 2 days!! after charging it really full the first day, the second night, noly 1 bar was left!! duno why..maybe it was becaused i used it too much?? i took so many pics, radioed a lot, and musiced a lot too..cld it be that? or my batt got prob??

well..only 3 days and i have so much to say!! ahah!!

icon_w00t.gif I got my nokia 6230 2 months ago and its great!!!. I think its best video/camera phone out on the market ryt now. Compare to the other nokias like nokia 6600 the nokia 6230 is more compact.... nokia 6600 is a fat *ss phone. Nokia 6230 has same features as the 1s on nokia 6600. The picture quality is good(640x480)pixels. BT/IF are both wireless features on this phone. So if any1 is looking for the best video/camera phone out there u hav 2 check out nokia 6230.

Just got a new 6230 on contract. my old seimens a50 was horrible to use but i found that the nokia was very user friendly. Lets face it i am over 50 and not fully computer/mobile literate but i found this phone to be very easy to get used to. I'm still having probs trying to put mp3's into it but i'll get there one day. The main thing is that since i've had mobiles, starting with a motorola flip with pull up antenna and the weight of a brick, this has to be the best and most versitile.
