Simply put, I love this phone. I had several specific features I wanted in a phone, and this phone has them all and then some. The features I considered necessary were: camera with video capture, mp3 player, voice recorder, and memory expansion via SD chip. There are many phones meeting these requirements, but the Nokia stood out for several reasons.
As an avid amateur photographer, a decent camera was important. Until I got this phone, I was carrying a digital camera (the one in the Motorola I was using sucked), a phone, an mp3 player, and a voice recorder. I wanted a single device to replace all of these, with performance comparable to that of the individual devices I used. The camera in the Nokia is 2 MP, which although hardly cutting edge now is still better than most phone cameras. More than that, it has a video capture with sound, and something I haven't seen on other phones, a flash. The flash can be used in the normal fashion for stills, or it can be activated continually for shooting video in the dark. This allows it to be used as a flashlight too! In practice I rarely use the flash, as the camera has an excellent night shot setting that takes great pictures in low light. Not only is the camera very versatile and easy to use, the pictures it takes look fantastic - were it not for the low (for a camera) 2 MP resolution, you would never guess the picture was taken with a phone and not a half decent digital camera. There are also rudimentary picture editing functions right on the phone. Working with the camera is an excellent display screen, with greater resolution and better colour than others I had seen. I personally dislike flip phones, and the slide-open design allows for a large screen that is visible at all times, not just when the phone is open. In fact, most features can be used without opening the phone at all. Not only does the phone take decent pictures (and acceptable if somewhat choppy video), it also allows me to store and display pictures taken with my digital SLR. That allows me to carry my 'portfolio' with me at all times, which has proven to be VERY handy.
The mp3 player (actually there is a multi-media player) and voice recorder, while nothing fancy, do everything I need them to do and are very easy to use with or without the Bluetooth earpiece. Stereo Bluetooth headsets are becoming more common, and will no doubt soon be available for a reasonable price (current sets can run over $150 - three times what I paid for the phone with a three year contract!) and there is a 2.5mm jack for regular headphones as well.
The desire to store lots of photos and songs was why I wanted an expandable memory. The mini SD chip the phone uses is available in several sizes (I have a 1 gig chip, but I believe there is a 2 gig available as well), which although slightly more expensive than a regular SD chip, can be used in any device that uses the SD chip. That means no compatability issues with my other cameras and card readers. I rarely remove the chip however, since it is very easy (although slow) to swap files using Bluetooth. I just need to be near my home computer and I can swap all the files I want without the hassle of a USB cord.
Along with these main (and essential) features, there is the usual collection of applications I never use (games, internet functions, an FM radio, stopwatch) and therefor cannot comment on, although I do use the calendar, note taking (including an innovative 'to do' list feature) and alarm functions frequently.
To conclude, the Nokia 6265i offers all the features of comparable phones, with a better camera and display screen, and a slide rather than flip open design. I couldn't be happier with this phone and expect it will serve my needs even well after the three year contract is up.
