Nokia 6600, da mobile set from NOKIA
Reviewer: bsantosh on Fri Nov 25, 2005
I am using Nokia 6600 for the last one month and till now i have'nt faced a single problem. i am fully satisfied with the set. This particular set stands out for its unique shape (egg shaped) and this is what attracted me the most, though at times it tend to slip out off my hand. The display is fantastic with a big screen. The camera (still photography) output is really good whereas the video quality is so so. One thing that worries me a lot is the lens, which has all the possibilities of get scratched. The "call" and "disconnect" buttons takes some time to get adjusted to as they are placed to the sides of the screen rather than being below the screen as usually is. The joystick is very well placed and can be handled very easily when compared with the joystick of W700i sony ericson set, which is very hard to handle. The loudspeaker is really good. apart from these small drawbacks the set is the best in its category when compared with other brands.

2 @ 1/2 years and still goin'
Reviewer: Necrom on Sat Jan 06, 2007
I've had my 6600 since June 3rd 2004 and I wouldn't trade it for (almost) none of the cellphones currently on the market.
I was thinking of buying a nokia 3650, but since they were sold out and the money was just enough, I brought the 6600 home. THANK GOD!!
The first aspect of the phone that called my attention at the time was the bright, crisp image it had. Much better compared to the 3650.
The extras it presented weren't that great, few ringtones, no wallpapers, a couple of themes, and that was it.
But with time I came to learn that what was great about this phone wasn't what it did, but what it was possible to do with the right software.
Ringtones? Buy thousands thru your operator, magazines, or find them online (both midis and realtones).
Wallpapers? Same as above.
More games? Java and Symbian games available everywere! It'll even run some N-Gage games! (note: if you download cracked games to your phone, do it at your one risk!!)
Not enough space for your media? Get a 1 GB MMC and enjoy!
No MP3 playback? get 1 of the dozens of MP3 players out there, both commercial (ex:UltraMP3) or freeware (ex:oggplay)
Your videos are to short? Get a video recorder like Philips Camcoder or Camcorder Pro a record videos as long as your memory card allows it!
Tired of your 640x480 basic camera? find a program like Photorite to enhance or add frames to your pictures or even take 1 MPXL photos with PhotoAcute!!!
New themes? Internet. Screensavers? Internet.
There's (almost) nothing this phone can't do!
Some critics may say that you can find software like this for many of the phones available today, but I doubt that there's one with so much compatibility with such a variety of software.
Some programs can turn your 6600 into a motion-activated camera, a baby monitor, or you can even view and edit excel, word or pdf files with it (with the right software)!
Easy to use (at least for me), good connectivity (bluetooth, IR), average battery time and tough enough for me (had some big falls on concrete, only a few scraches to the phone's body), this one is with me to stay.
Again, if you get a good size MMC and loads of software, you'll be able to do things with your "old" 6600 that some of the more modern phones can't even begin to do!!!
This is a trully multimedia phone, and I´m sure it will be a classic someday (isn't it already?), so get one, while they're cheap!!

Fantastic phone
Reviewer: h_saria on Sun Mar 28, 2004
This is phone is extremely cool !!! It is my third phone after motorola T720 and Nokia 3200. It has many good great things as well as some minor drawbacks........and i have listed them as follows:
Pros:
1. Very good big and clear display. Once you get used to it, you will not leave it.
2. The symbian OS is just perfect. Just have to take care about the software you install into it.
3. About the camera: the pictuure taken on the phone itself looks very good, but once transffered to the computer, looks kinda blurred. But thats ok, cozuu can download some software to enhance that. THe video camera though can come handy some time( but the time for recording is too small- that also ucan download some software to make it longer)
4. The phone is not that siimple to uuse if u have used a much simpler phone earlier. But that will be fine in a day or so... and if you r a comp. gick.
5. ITs just ca very cool phone- you can do pretty much anything you like.Eg; you can download an MP3 player and it really sounds great on the headphones then on the loudspeaker. You need to download the FExplorer thats really a great software and always comes in handy.
6.THe themes is aslo is very good.
Its really a cool phone.....a good smartphone.
Cons:
1. The keys are pretty small....that can be a problem some times.
2. The battery last very less about 2 hours( if you continously work with it)
3. Takes real sometime to start, but that doesn;t matter alot....does it?
4.To change the MMC card you need shutdown the phone. That can be a problem sometime.
5. LAck of FM radio.( but the MP3 can make it uup for that,if you download it)
thats about pretty much it.
Really a great phone....and I am goin to hang around it for a long time.

Nokia 6600
Reviewer: mdehavilland on Fri May 14, 2004
By far the best phone I have ever had. I run several business's and virtually live on the phone, so all the features are great. My old phone was the trusty Nokia 6301i, which did all that was required of it, but hadn't changed in several years. Has some good features like being able to take a photo of a person and then link it to the persons number so the photo is displayed when they call. Has a memory card, so the 500 maximum contacts is easily surpassed. As usual the phone appears to possess only funky ring tones, but I have grown used to my new musical ringing tone. (Why can't some professional standard business tones be iinstalled?)
The display is wonderful, bright, informative and a downright joy to use. The features, too many to mention are also extremely useful. Can also change the titles of the additional numbers held under the main name, so rather than just home or mobile or office, you can change it to a persons name or whatever you want, no need to add a seperate contact to include the name (very useful) Loudspeaker system is good and instead of just being allowed to save 10 voice activated, you can save loads and you can also save voice activated commands such as camera, profiles, recorder etc. Camera is quite good. Video is merely a gimmick and has little practical use except for fun.
ONE MAJOR PROBLEM: Trying to find a bluetooth adaptor to work has been a nightmare. I purchased the TDK Bluetooth adaptor from Carphone Warehouse and spent days trying to make it work, but it doesn't. Haven't found one that does as yet, but there are some that have been tested and work according to some colleagues.
ALL IN ALL... A GREAT PHONE... GO GET ONE.

Nokia - 6600, a Smart featured Phone but Not Durable Enough.
Reviewer: abhi_pawah on Sat Jun 19, 2004
Nokia 6600 - The name & display of the phone is amazing, but the white color patch at front & back looks slightly okward, Looks as if its a DOCTOR's Phone it could have been in more spicy colors. Well as per the features, its a perfect mixture of all requirements, i mean - a camera, a videocam & a desktop kind of stuff in same one, it sounds pretty good like its a miny computer but i lacks nice screen savers, like other nokia sets have and the OS of the system is pretty poor , it can get corrupted anytime & u r in a middle of nowhere then u jst need to rush to your nearest customer centre and that tooo u cant make ur backup b'coz ur operating system is not functioning, so u will have take backup of ur stuff whenever possible. Well The camera & video camera is so very perfect, they provide the best quality in comparison with the other phones. Now shorting up everything I wrote - final conclusion is NOKIA-6600, Nice Features But lacks quality & Durability.

Nokia, please wake up, dont sell this product any more
Reviewer: ashsinha010174 on Wed Sep 28, 2005
All,
This phone was bought since i dropped and broke my old and trusted Nokia 3200, and i completely regret the decision.
things i hate about it-
1) Can anyone tell me why is this egg shaped? Its not comfortable holding one, since there is always a chance of it slipping. Asians are not huge people and so have smalled hands.
2) Menu - Why cannot i create my own 'Go-To' customized menu as i can do with Nk 3200
3) Why cannot they put an automatic keyboard lock like 3200
4) Bluetooth does not work. Computer is identified, but still nothing happens
5) I was told by my NK dealer that it plays Mp3, i cannot find any place to play it. I even bought a 64MB MMC card for the same purpose. Maybe i was mislead, or is the functionality so deep down in the stupid menu that i cannot find it.
6) Why does the stupid Camera lens not protected enough. It sits in a silver holding frame, but i suggest that it should be more recessed inside.
7) Software is pretty slow in showing screens. At times i feel that the software has crashed. Imagine a brand new phone with no add on applications installed.
8 ) Cannot switch off Infra-Red activation. My mobile is showing Infra-Red signal since the last 24 hours and i dont want to remove the battery and reset it, since i would lose all of the call details.
Ranking 4/10, since its big display screen is what made me buy it, but the rest is all crappy and can be easily avoided.
I am dumping this by giving it to my cranky wife, let her suffer. i am going to buy another nokia.
May god help me!!
