Nokia 6800 Review
Reviewer: aurigus on Tue Jul 08, 2003
I've had this phone for about a week now and I love it. With the fold out keyboard, typing is made much easier. I've downloaded several J2ME applications and they all seem to be running excellently. I've read elsewhere that the color screen suffers a bit but it looks great to me - especially coming from a regular LCD phone. I would recommend this phone to data junkies like me - if you use your phone mainly to talk then you won't appreciate the extra bulk created by the keyboard. This phone also gets a lot of "WOW!"s because of its unique design.
Battery lasts a long time - this was a necessary thing for me.
The jury is still out on the Web browsing and e-mail software - It seems a bit slow to me and I plan on trying some of the other pay offerings out there to see how they compare.
Phone definately gets my thumbs up especially for the price - I payed $150 - $50 rebate from AT&T Wireless.

Great Phone!
Reviewer: rxcurang on Tue Dec 16, 2003
One thing I have to say is that there is absolutely nothing that I regret, not satisfied or feel bad about getting this phone.
About the design, at first glance, you either love it or hate it.
I'm on the 'love it' part
It's a tough phone with great features... especially the keypad, for an active smser especially. It doesn't get in your way, you could flip it out to use it when you want to, unlike the other Nokia model (a 5xxx something model) which I used to carry a long time ago. It's a great phone too, it's just that time is catching up with it... colour display, polyphonic ringtones, java, etc. etc. etc.
Great Java applications on this one, arguably stable. Haven't tried on the e-mailing yet though, but the WAP over GPRS seems to be working great!
I've had no problems configurating, as well as browsing to please my itchy fingers!
The colours, even though it's just 4096 (is it correct?) colours, is great. It's more than just what I actually need. The only 65K colours from Nokia is the 6600 I guess, but it doesn't matter as I don't really need it.
The sound is amazing! The ringtones, eventhough some might find it not so up-to-date, are great. The loudspeaker option is excellent. I use it all the time, even when I am not driving. It's great to have a handsfree phone without having to connect the accessory to the phone when the phone has already a built-in loud speaker. My phone came with a stereo handsfree unit, and it can be used as a handsfree unit when you make private calls, and guess what, you could enjoy great fm radio with that!
And yes, the speaker stand is available too, just like the 7210/7250.
On top of all that, I get ample memory space, J2ME rules!
What?!?!? No Bluetooth? As if I needed it, who really cares?
No camera? Actually there is an optional camera headset that you could purchase seperately, but I'm not into that really. I'd rather WAP my way around, floating in GPRS... MMSing my way around now and then though.
If you really need Bluetooth and the camera, I suggest you sacrifice yourself the marvellousness of this model and get the other 6810 or 6820 or something like that.
I am both a Nokia fan and a SonyEricsson fan, so, hey, Technology rules!

6800 great phone
Reviewer: driven2sin on Fri Jun 13, 2003
Having a great time with this phone. Yes the keyboard is the best
selling point, also it does have a few things i think that weren't mentioned
in the review. Voice recording and the Conference calling options.
The conference calling is very nice where you can have up to 6 parties
on line and you have total control of putting people into the conference or
picking them out and talking one on one. Voice recording is very
nice to get yours and others thoughts before they pass by. It allows for up to 3 minutes a recording.
The note taking is very useful. If you are an avid writer you will love to just type away at any time and file the notes.
I am having a little problem with the Content Copier in the PC Suite 5.1
software. It makes no sense that I can conect via infared to edit my
contacts, but it doesn't bring up my messages or gallery folders. The
software is not recognizing the phone in those parts of the program.
I am really looking forward to developing on the series 40 platform.

One of the best Nokia models
Reviewer: BigGreenTank on Thu Oct 23, 2003
I have had quite a few Nokia phones in my time, and I can easily say that the Nokia 6800 is the best one I have had. The Java compatibility is a big plus, and unlike the stats say, it actually does have voice commands. I do a lot of text messaging, and this phone makes it so much quicker and easier. Great Phone!

So far, so Good!
Reviewer: PropHead on Sat Jun 18, 2005
I've had the 6800 for about a month now and it is about at the top of the list of cell phones I've had (and I've had em for a long time). I read a professional review about the phone and one of the complaints was the rocking back and forth when the phone was opened, laid flat, and one was typing Far as I'm concerned the phone was pretty much designed to be usued just like the manual suggests, 2 hands and type with the thumbs. Reception is good, far better than the V60 I just retired. Battery life is excellent. Sound, ring tones, graphics, supporting software, all very good for my purposes. And, as my handle suggest, I am a techno propellor head. Bluetooth was not on my wish list, so I have no comments there. And the Irda port works well. Data connections work fine, at least around my immediate area. I haven't travelled very far with this one yet, but so far so good.
If I could think of any cons at all, it would be problems with available (and not available) accessories. I only found a plastic swivel belt clip by fortuitous accident when I went into a T-Mobile store. And I can't seem to find the 'Activity Headset' anywhere, even when I tried the foreign markets. And there's a slight problem with the regular stereo headset seating correctly and I lose stereo to mono sometimes when I listen to the builti FM.
But, all in all, I'm very pleased with the phone.
