After Using Nokia 7390 for approximate one month, I have realize a few pros and cons of the phone.
Pros:
- Bluetooth function works flawlessly with any bluetooth device so far (been tested with SE W800i, MacBook and several other phones from Motorola and Sharp)
- Beautiful Ceramic plastic and aluminum is basically anti-scratch, phone looks the same as the first day I bought it
- Beautiful built in themes and ringtones
- Able to change the menu in any form the user wishes (you can organize it, change the view to tabs, list, grid, or grid with labels)
- Rather loud ringtone and easily felt vibration
- Can enchanced security by asking user to type in a security code to unlock keypad
- "Flash message" function to send message to another cell phone. Flash message is displayed instantly upon receipt. (Unlike the traditional way, the other party have to open the message to view it) However Flash messages received will not be saved in regular inbox. It can be saved in saved messages, though.
- "Audio message" function, a function based on MMS. User can record a message and send it as an MMS to another party. Great function if there are very very urgent matter that voice mail will just not do e.g. apologies
- "Active stand by" - to have a couple of commonly used applications on stand by of your desktop. E.g., note book, calendar. (However I personally prefer not to because I want to make use of the 16 million color display)
- Camera works very well even at night. Will not go into indept review for the camera because I am not an expert. For a regular student it works fine for taking a few pictures of my friends and me occasionally
Cons
- biggest disappointment is the outter display can not be used as a capture display. So every time I take a picture of me and my friends, I have to guess if we are in focus.
- under extreme weather, (Cold), the silver crome around the keypad has cracked. If you are considering to purchase this, please be gentle with the keypad crome
- Color on the leatherpad on the back tends to chip slightly after wear and tear, but I consider that reasonable
- Song lists are not automatically updated on the music player, user have to manually update it. For first time users it might take a while to figure out
- Phone Calls are not displayed in order of receiving time, possibly a bug
Features I have not tested:
Video calls ( I don't have 3G network in Canada)
PTT ( My network carrier does not support this)
