Software glitch with the E50
Reviewer: sribi on Thu May 10, 2007
I bought an E50 a couple weeks ago and encountered a peculiar problem - while sometimes answering an incoming call, the speakerphone gets activated automatically and then all functions and keys freeze up! Then the only way to restore the phone is to taking the battery out and replacing it. Nokia replaced the faulty phone with a brand new one but the problem still persists! Can anyone please suggest what to do.?

nokia e50 my garble
Reviewer: dathmalus on Tue Dec 05, 2006
first off i like to say wow this phone is small. this is a short review, as soon as i put my sim in , the phone seemed to program the text message media net, mms settings and voicemail settings automaticly i use this phone with cingular. the ui is a bit slow not as bad as other reviews say, the sound on the phone when making a call is a bit shallow but i did not buy the phone for a phone lol who does now a days. if in a loud area it would be better if you had a head set. avoid saberpoint store on ebay they sent me the version with out camera even know the auction said it was, and it took 3 weeks to get to me with usps priority shipping which is 2-3 days overall great phone i would recomend it to anyone.

E50- nice looking phone, with minimal battery life
Reviewer: michaeluae on Mon Sep 03, 2007
I bought my E50 because of its simplicity for a smart phone and its nice, compact form. I had no idea that the battery life in actual usage is about a third of what they advertise in 'standby mode' or I would have never bought it. I have never gotten more than about 36 to 48 hours out of a full charge with a couple of calls and SMS, no Bluetooth, camera, or music player use. I am actually afraid to use the advanced features as I imagine that would cause the battery to deplete in around 24 hours. I have never had a phone before that I had to charge more than about two or at most 3 times a week. In response to my battery life issue, the people at the Nokia brand store here in NYC have told me this phone should be charged every day, but have also given me a variety of sometimes contradictory answers as to why my battery life doesn't even come close to what their literature and online reviews suggest. According to them, the 'battery monitor is inaccurate,' the battery must be charged '6 hours each night but not more than it takes to fill' (which in my experience is 2 not 6), and among other things, the phone drains alot of power in standby mode with the keys locked 'if you happen to touch a key' or 'if you get on the subway' or go elsewhere there is no signal. I have already replaced the battery, then replaced the handset, and still can't get more than 2 days of battery life out of the E50 in what I would consider minimal usage (couple of calls a day, maybe 20 min of talk a day, plus 4 or 5 texts). This phone has been a headache for me I and would not recommend it except to people who keep a charger handy at all times because it's actually kind of hard to predict when exactly it will deplete.
