I have recently gone through the Treo 680, BlackBerry Pearl and Sony Ericsson W810i in search of a good balance of battery life, fuctionality, reliability, Mac synchronization and portability. This Nokia E62 is truly the best offer of that balance(at least until the iPhone comes out).
First off, as a phone it is like any other Nokia I have had: much clarity with great reception. The voice dailing is alright and doesn't have to be preceeded with commands... you can hold down the voice key and just say the name of one of your contacts you would like to call. It is a definite must to clear and concise in your pronunciation, otherwise anything may cause the phone to call the wrong person.
One feature I like about it is a home screen that is much like a daily agenda showing appts and tasks for the current day, which was much desired since I had left my Palm TX pda. A bonus is a taskbar of 7 app shortcuts on the agenda that can be fully customized.
The screen is large, bright and has very good color support and resolution. The calendar app is a breeze to work with on this screen, for a basic month view is laid out clearly and is easy to read. When a specific date is highlighted by the cursor, a summary pop-up of all tasks and appts appears on the screen. I haven't seen any support for color-codes for appts like on the Palm TX/Treo 680 and Apple iCal, but this isn't a big deal for me. Alarms can be set to sound(or vibrate) before specific appts and show up quite well on the screen. The To-Do listing of due tasks is very easy to read and reliable and the Notes app is terrific for general post-it messages like grocery list items.
The QWERTY keyboard is a good size with tactile buttons, but I found it difficult to type with my fingertips. Now that I have a leather case with a clear plastic covering over the keys, typing is very quick when I use my nails. Once I get into typing a message or a word doc I almost feel as if this Nokia is a mini version of my MacBook Pro!
Though not as fluid as the trackball on the Blackberry Pearl, navigation is manageable and quick with the joystick. The Symbian interface may take some time to get used to but is not too different from any of the other phones I've had.
The few times that I have surfed the web on it have been good on the HTML browser.
Setting my Gmail account was pretty easy once I got the instructions from online, but I have to check my email manually instead of having it automatically pushed to the device. Texting is the usual and I have not used the chatting feature as of yet.
The memory expandability of a miniSD card is very handy in storing music, pictures and video, even though you have to remove the battery cover to install it. Pictures are spectacular to see on the image veiwer and closely rival the display of my iPod w/ video. I have been able to play MP3s and MP4s(AAC) with no problem at all on the music player and even set them as ringtones, and the sound is not too bad through the speaker. As far as video is concerned, the RealPlayer on my Nokia has only been able to play the 3GP format of vids I had transferred from my computer. Speaking of data transfers, I have been doing that through either Bluetooth or the included USB cord attached to my computer. Single pics, documents and ringtones have been good to transfer using Bluetooth, but anything more than that may require the USB cable if you don't want to wait for too long.
An absolute goldmine that I have found in this device is the Office Suite app which allows you to create and edit Word docs, PowerPoints and Excel spreadsheets. I have transferred Word docs from my Mac to the phone and vice versa through Bluetooth and was amazed to see that the formatting was not changed one bit! I love to write poetry and entries to my personal blog, so it has been a treat to be able to have this mini word processor on my person at all times! The last few entries on my blog have all been typed on this Nokia E62!! I must say that although I am for sure getting the iPhone once it comes out, I will certainly miss this app! I do believe that there is the Docs&Spreadsheets app from Google that I could use online through the phone, but oh well.
No camera or wi-fi. Not too big of a deal but it would be nice to have. No included sync capability through Apple iSync, so I opted to buy an iSync plug-in from NovaMedia and it worked like a charm! All calendars and contacts(even with contact photos!!) synched over just fine once the plug-in was installed.
All in all the size of this device is a good mix between the Palm TX and Treo 680. It is not as thin or tall as the Palm TX and not a brick like the Treo, but just big enough to be portable and useful.
After my endless search I have found the perfect phone for the next 6 months until the iPhone arrival! For a new, groundbreaking Apple product with a camera and wi-fi I am willing to let go of the office suite. If all does not go well for some reason with the iPhone, the Nokia E62 is surely a device worth running back to.

I enjoy using the applications on this phone like word documents, presentation, and adobe pdf software. It meets all my daily needs. Also, I have the wonderful blue tooth to beam away files to and from my Nokia E62. I njoy the easy to use designate a task feature to a a prticular soft key! Also the OWN feature which allows you to select tis feature and go in any direction to access any tool you designate. The ring tones are nice to use and speaker phone capability. I can not forget the wonderful qwerty keyboard for easy texting. That was my main reason for getting the Nokia E62. It has been an awesome phone, and you can customize this phone to meet your personal needs. Don't forget the key lock feature for accidental dialing on your phone.Hey! You can even customize your desk top background on your Nokia E62. You have a music player and real player application to use for your music needs. This is just an all around great phone! No wi-fi...but it's all good for me. You also get the data cable and charger to your Nokia E62 and CD install PC suite. It's a great buy! Wana know what's even great..if you get a Cingular internet deal to get on unlimited anytime and anywhere..how cool is that? Try it out. It's worth it! Very Nice Phone!! I have no complaints. It also has a voice aid feature to call out the time and other applications you use. What a cool phone! It has a symbian Os computer. Great phone!
