Nokia n80 review
Reviewer: hammi_poop on Tue Oct 31, 2006
Ok so i opened the box and first impression - neat looking, smart a little bit chunky but il get over it.
Gave the phone its standard charged and started playing away and to be honest i think i got my hopes up.The load up was very slow and nothing really stood out as being exciting. The camera is excellent but the size of the pictures tend to be very big due to this (can be changed in settings) The pictures can be shrunk down but it takes a long time and also introduces another major problem for this handset - freezing.
The phone is wireless enabled which is pretty cool as i have a wireless network at home. But thats about all there is exciting about it. The gallery has all pictures displayed rather than like other models where you can place pictures in named folders as desired (not ideal for if you want to keep certain pictures hidden from possible phone fiddlers). There are hardly any interesting games on the phone, although it could be said the phone is aimed at business users.
So now lets move on to the very frequent freezing, crashing and general slow software.
As mentioned previously the phone often freezes or creates a kind of whiteish screen which is very annoying if your in a rush, most the time it sorts its self out and if youve pressed a series of buttons, it wizzes through what youve done a bit like an old windows system. The phone has restarted on me many a time for absolutely no apparent reason which is dammed annoying considering the amount of time it then takes to reboot.
Another thing that i find extremely annoying about this phone is the keypad lock, when you slide the phone closed it asks you if you want to lock the phone, this took me a long while to grasp and can unfortunately result in accidental calls if you dont realise. The slide itself is also very easily opened, so ok it slides nicely, but say the phone is in my pocket ive actually remembered to lock the keypad, but its slid open in my pocket, even if the phone closes again youve got no chance because you havent locked the dammed thing. Lets say its a big money maker for the networks.
The phone does look different and i am often asked what model it is, but it s just all mouth no action.
so overall if you want to be different, can cope with slowness, regular crashing and freezing this phone is for you.
my ratings out of 10
