Keep in mind that I have only had this phone for six months. Just yesterday it finally broke completely in half, yes folks I now have two seperate pieces. For the past three weeks it has been held together by a piece of metal inside the phone and I guess yesterday it finally gave up. Please note that the phone has NEVER been dropped, misused or anything of that matter. One day I just notice a very small hairline crack. I wasn't worried, it still worked. Over time though, pieces of the hinge started to come off and finally while using the phone one night the top part of the phone was left to dangle in mid air, embarrassing to say the least. From the beginning the phones reception wasn't that great and my callers complained that they couldn't hear me that well. I couldn't hear them that clearly either and I had the earpiece up to the highest bar. I am now using another phone (my old one) till I can purchase another one and it's sad because this one is an older Sanyo model and I notice the difference right away. Everyone is crystal clear ( I actually had to lower the ear piece volume), callers can hear me so much better and go on about how my "other" phone sucked. On a last note, I am not the only one. I found a couple of reviews with people saying that the had this EXACT problem after owning it (just like me) for 6 months. How do you like them apples

 Not worth it

I would have to agree with the other comments I have heard about this phone. I have had mine for just over 6 months, and in that time only dropped it maybe 5 times from standing height. But without fail, the hinge on the phone has broken, and now I have to make it an effort to keep the phone up when talking to someone. It has been more of a hassle than anything. The one good thing I will say about this phone is that there is quite a bit of memory available. I would not recommend anyone to get this phone for their own personal use. If you do, make sure you get some sort of equipment protection with it, or save up your money to get a replacement phone.

extremely poor construction
Reviewer: nsrbb5 on Tue Feb 06, 2007
my previous phone had been a samsung SCH-3500 which i had used for SIX YEARS. yes. six years. i cashed in my rebate with sprint and ordered this phone because my old one's battery no longer held a proper charge.
the minute i picked up the phone i was not satisfied with its build quality. the thing feels extremely cheap and plastic-y. the hinge seemed to be especially weak. when setting the phone face down in its open position (forming an angle pointed up in the air) i thought the weight of the phone itself was going to break the hinge.
ergonomically the phone is mediocre. there are no "grip points" on the phone's split to allow you to easily flip the phone open one-handed. i have missed a few phone calls because i could not open the phone with one hand in time. you should be able to hold the base of the phone in your palm and flip it open with your thumb and middle finger (or any finger i guess!)
after five months of use almost all of the paint has worn off the exterior of the phone.
back to the hinge, and to add on to the previous stories of the hinge breaking -- my phone fell off my desk at work, a distance of ~3 feet. upon recovering the phone, there was a HUGE crack in the hinge at the corner. the phone no longer closes flat. i mean, the top portion of the phone no longer closes flush with the bottom portion -- the hinge closes at an angle. well, at least now i have my "grip points" to flip open with one hand! on top of the existing crack i can tell that with each flip open the hinge is weakening still. there is a hairline crack that is starting to grow, and i can see the "metal strip" visible inside which was mentioned as breaking in a previous review.
i have never been more unimpressed with a cell phone in my life.

Phone is defective and Nokia will not stand behind it
Reviewer: keithf548 on Tue Feb 13, 2007
I have 3 of these phones which all started cracking after a few months service. I had one repaired but needed the other two. I just sent back the other two after pieces of the phones started falling off. Nokia refused to fix them.
Nokia has even admitted that the covers were defective but did not issue a recall. Only if someone complains within the warranty period do they respond and then they try to get you to admit dropping the phone or somehow being at fault.
In my case the phones were still under warranty but since I had ordered them online from Sprint I did not have what Nokia deemed proof of purchase date. Sprint only includes phone numbers in order confirmation not serial numbers. Sprint told me they could not provide me with writting confirmation of serial numbers and date of purchase even though they had it in the system and could verify it to me. Nokia insisted on documentation with serial numbers and date.
After I threatened Sprint with service cancellation they finally came through (only because my service had been in effect long enough for equipment upgrade) and offered to send me 4 new phones (definitely not Nokia) but of course I had to extend my contract.
I would never by another Nokia phone. I have used several in the past and they were good but they obviously will not stand behind the product when it's not good.
