The Treo 700p Carries On A Tradition
Reviewer: ronboykin on Sat Mar 10, 2007
What tradition am I talking about? I'm talking about total Sprint account integration! What's that, you might ask? Picture mail compatibility and account info. For me total picture mail compatibility is why I gave up my PPC-6700 for the Treo 700p! Read my review of the Sprint PPC-6700 cell phone and you'll see why I like the Treo 700p. I've had most of Sprint's PDA cell phones (yea, I'm a tech geek type of guy). The Audiovox PPC-6600 was the only Windows Mobile cell phone that included picture mail compatibility. I'm big on picture mail and I'll tell you why in a minute. Most of the past Treos, that Sprint sold, starting with the Treo 600, were picture mail compatible. Currently the only picture mail compatible PDA phone, that Sprint sells, is the Treo 700p. What a shame! I did like the Windows Mobile powered phones that I owned. I do actually favor Windows Mobile over the Palm OS but being able to use all my Sprint services is more important than what my phone is powered by. With picture mail you don't have to store your pictures on your phone but you can manage them (I have hundreds) from the phone! Where do they go when you send them to someone? A picture mail compatible phone sends pictures to emails and or other cell phones via cell phone numbers but also while the picture is being sent to those places it's also being sent to your picture mail account server on the Sprint network! I like that about the Treo 700p. I can even pay my bill from my phone if I want! How's that for total integration! The other PDA Sprint phones with cameras only let you send pictures to emails and not even to other cell phones unless you're a tech type person who can figure out a hack or a patch. The Treo 700p has other nice features like streaming TV, video and radio. I have to admit the Treo 700p is pretty darn easy to use. In fact I think it's more popular than the 6700 now. I see a lot of them. In my Treo 650 days, I didn't see as many Treos as I see today! One tip for Sprint customers: If you've signed up for the Power Vision picture mail pack option and you buy a phone that doesn't support picture mail don't cancel your picture mail account because it will be enabled when you purchase another picture mail compatible phone. I didn't even know that I had picture mail (wasn't paying attention) when I first signed up for Vision until I bought my first picture compatible phone. That was the Treo 600. Now it seems that most picture mail compatible Sprint phones are the flip type phones.
