Great features, but terrible at being a PHONE!

Reviewer: ericbg on Thu Aug 24, 2006

I can see why they discontinued this phone, it's the worst phone out of 4 I've owned for the last 6 years.

GOOD
-- Nice screen
-- Sleek design
-- Takes quality pictures/videos
-- Pretty UI

BAD
-- 1 out of 10 incoming calls come in with loud static. This happened in the midwest and east coast, so it's not a network issue.
-- People I call occassionally complain about the poor voice quality, "I can barely hear you."
-- I complain about the voice quality I hear on the phone; it's not terrible, but it's quiet, not very rich, and is choppy.
-- Bugs in software: You can't assign a picture to the outer screen even though the interface "says" you can. I contacted Samsung, it's a known issue.

SUMMARY
Like I said this is honestly the worst phone I've owned and I'm pissed that I payed $150+ (after rebates) for a POS phone. All the features are great, but it fails at what I need it for--reliablely connecting me to another person so we can clearly understand each other. Why aren't cell manufacturers focusing on designing a better PHONE rather than a better camera/video camera/streaming media device?!?

Yes, this phone hits a nerve with me...
