The number of songs this phone can hold really depends on the size of the song files and the amount of photos and other stuff you currently have stored on your phone. The phone has a little less than 50 mb non-expandable internal memory. You can check to see how much free memory you have available for songs by using the following procedure:

Click the following buttons in sequence.

Menu Ok Button -> Tools -> Mass Storage -> Memory Info

The available memory will determine how many songs you can store on your phone. In general a 128 kb mp3 is going to be around 3-5 mb a piece so I’m confidant you can do the math.

As far as actually loading the songs onto your phone, I only have experience loading songs from my pc so I couldn’t say for sure if this is the same process for macs. If you’re running a windows pc then you can use the following procedure.

1. First you will need to make sure that the usb drivers are installed. The usb cable included with the phone also had a piece of paper with a link and instructions for downloading and installing the drivers from the Samsung website. Pretty straight forward I think.

2. Once you have successfully installed the software, connect the usb cable to your computer and the other end to your phone.

3. Now open your phone and do the following. Click the Menu Ok button -> Tools -> Mass Storage -> Connect To PC

4. At this point your phone should now be connected to your pc. Your pc basically views the phone as a removable disk drive so you can open and view the folders on your phone just like you would any other removable drive.

5. When click on the drive you should see the following directories: DCIM, BLUETOOTH, MEDIA, filestore, and Music.

6. The directory you need to copy your song files over to is the MEDIA directory. Just drag and drop or copy and paste your music to the folder and your all done! Incidentally if you can also download your own pictures to your phone by using the same procedure except you would copy those files to following directory. DCIM/100SSED/

7. When you have finished copying all your files over go back to your phone and click Disconnect From PC

8. All done! In order to listen to your songs when you go to the media player make sure to select Mass Storage in order to listen to your newly downloaded songs.

I love this phone! With the exception of the rather short battery life, I can't say much of anything bad about it. I get really beautiful pics with it, I travel all over the country and the coverage is as good as I've had anywhere and I don't see a need for more memory. I can keep a complete cd on it usually. One thing I _have_ found is the need to keep checking for upgrades on the software. Could be my imagination, but it seems to have even helped the battery life. I guess the only critical thing I could say is the manual is too big. Oh, also on the battery life, if the battery life is too short, blame it on the battery manufacturer. icon_biggrin.gif

First off...to the guy a few posts back. This phone DOES work with mac osx, you CAN upload your own MP3's and it DOES have speakerphone. So hopefully that calms you down just a little bit.

I really like this phone, it's been good to me for the last 3 months. I've used it on my mac as a modem and it kicked a*s, You have to transfer all your contacts one at a time which is annoying, and i've uploaded plenty of MP3's from my computer, however i wish you could assign an mp3 file as a ringtone!

Maybe someone can help me with this. I just got a Jabra bluetooth headset and it pairs just fine, but when the phone is more than a foot away from the headset, it crackles annoyingly...maybe someone knows how to stop this from happening??

All in all this is a really great phone, I think most nay sayers just need to take the time to FIND the features they think aren't there...cuz this phone has more features than most.

I really like this phone with a few exceptions. First, it does not separate the pictures you have assigned from those that are just stored on your phone. All the pictures on your phone are stored in one location. If you delete a picture that is assigned it is GONE. Second, you can only activate the speaker phone after you make or receive a call.

Many people like to compare this phone to the RAZR but this phone has alot more features.

Okay i have a couple of things to say.. upon reading these entries and things... This phone is totally worth the $199.99 for a new line of service... i switched to sprint because of this phone... i saw it in spec reports many years ago before moto even dreamed of the razr... this phone is far more capable of speeds and applications that the moto razr could ever come close to achieving... I got the phone back before christmas and have only had a few issues with it... there was a texting issue where i could recieve but not send texts.. one of my friends got the phone 2 months ago and had the same issue... sprint fixed mine free and it works fine now... my friend ended up getting a free $100 blue tooth head set for his issues... quite a few of my friends also have the razr from verizon and yeah its pathetic... they paid more then me for their internet services and their eating my dust... not to mention they cant even take a picture in low light due to no flash... if you have any issues or questions feel free to ask me... im basicly an expert on this phone... icon_sleep.gif

Well I have had this particular phone since about April and I love it. The one problem I have been having is my call waiting or when i switch calls and i try to switch back.

To answer the last posts question, you can put an MP3 as a ring tone. All you have to do is find this one website where you can upload your own song and have it sent to your phone for FREE. I unfortunatly forgot the website and it truly did work.

The battery life on this phone is weak but it is one of the best phones I have owned yet. This phone is easy to use and basically self explanatory. Many options like voice commands, MP3 player, and video camera. The camera comes in handy when one of my friends make a fool out of themself.

If someone can help me with my problem please help me out. Other than that, this is one awesome phone to have.

With one exception, I love the phone. But the exception is serious: battery life. I even bought another battery on the chance mine was a lemon, but no. You want to know your phone will work when needed.

I sure hope Samsung fixes this problem, because absent that I love it. RAZR wannabe? This "Blade" is a Lexus to the RAZR's Hyundai. TV, radio, On Demand...
Wow!

As for carriers, in my part of the Bay Area Sprint is by far the best. I know that may not be the case back East, but in San Francisco the service is perfect.

This phone isnt too terribly bad. Got its little quirks of course, goofy dialing fonts etc. but the quality isnt too bad overall.

The bad, battery life. If you turn on power save and disable location (the GPS... see below). You can go for a few days without going dead whith REALLY good talk time. Course if you throw in a few games your back to the daily hit on the charger.

The ugly, they sold this phone with GPS, problem is it isnt true GPS so there are no on the fly applications that work for it. End result is only thing its good for is to help 911 locate you. There are sparatic reports of apps working (mentioned above) but thats all they are are reports. Nobody can provide solid verification. Samsung refuses to fix the firmware and well, we all know Sprint.

The new Samsung A900 is a very cool phone but still has many of the same problems that the Razor has. It has a beautiful screen and very cool that it plays mp3's but then again you can only but maybe 80 on there as there is no expansion slot for memory. yes it is thin but they could have easily put a micro sd slot on the phone. The only other problem I have with the A900 is that it is for sprint. yes sprint has sme very cool things going for them its just that in my area I get no reception and that is sprints main issue. They need to boost the overall network. More towers means more happy people. icon_neutral.gif

My phone has terrible reception (and I live in downtown Chicago). It is always dropping off sprint service and going to roam or searching for signal. Sprint is sending me a new one, but shouldn't they test them before sending them out? The kicker was when the phone was searching for signal IN the Sprint Store!

So if you have poor reception when you shouldn't, send it in and get a new one. PS you can check to see a map of Sprint towers online, just google sprint towers or something.

p.s. Samsung's menus are much easier to use than motorola's and sanyo's. Sorry if you are too dumb to learn something new.

This phone is pretty but junky. Samsun have a long way to go to make their phone work right. Using this phone makes me feel like using a prototype: a lot of bugs in the phone:

1. If you finish a phone call and fold up the phone without pressing the END button twice, the screen will never turn dark and the battery will drain all the way. To reset the screen, you need to turn the phone off completely and restart.

2. Quite offen, the phone would loss the singal strength and call information on the screen for unknown reasons, to rest? you need to turn the phone off completely and restart.

3. When you get in a no service place like a high rise building, oops the phone would loss it normal screen and display a funky rotating spaceship like icon. You would be able to see the clock on the screen. To access for any information, you need to get to the main menu.

4. If you are kind of guy who use the battery to the last juice, too bad, you will find a lot of problem with this phone. The phone will lock up when it gets low in power. The screen would start missing some information. Even you fully recharge it, the phone screen would not go to power saving mode and you would be able to make call. you need to turn the phone off completely and restart it.

5. Speaking of inconvienance, you would see anything on screen (obsolutely nothing, dark screen) once the phone is automatically get into powe saving mode (not choice it is an automatic setting). To see the clock, signal strength, mis-call, voice mails logo, or date, you have to press any button on the phone. Would that means the battery will last a long time, nope, no longer than three days even you do make a call.

6. It can not synch with your PC outlook for schedule or contact.

Overall comment on the phone: Good looking only, not good if you need a functional phone.

I have been with AT & T, Cingular, Nextel and Sprint and believe me I know they all have sold a bad phone at one time or another.... but this phone really takes the cake. I purchased the phone on February 2, 2006 and the phone has never worked properly. I called technical assistance because I could not send photos directly from the phone, I would have to upload them and then send them from my picturemail account (ridiculous!) They reset the phone for me at the store and one picture went through as soon as I tried to send another Vision services could not be found or were busy (whatever!!!) , the tech fixed that and I still could not send pics directly from the phone. I was then told that the design of the phone holds pictures in a que so that none of the other features would be disrupted. The only thing this phone is good for is to look at! I don't have a phone right now because my wanna be razr is at the sprint store getting looked at AGAIN by a technician. They have not worked out any of the kinks on this one....I knew I should have went with the A920 or 940! icon_mad.gif

Just like on going, never ending problems with Sprint and their crappy customer service the Samsung A900 is a total piece of CR*P!

This phone will not, at this time, work with Apple computers...come on lets get with the 90's here. Dropped calls, plenty even with a full signal. You can't delete caller ID photos with out deleting them forever. Other cell phones will allow you to delete pics used for ID and saves a thumbnail elsewhere...not this junker.

The battery life sucks, last about a day if you are not using it much in a full signal area. If the signal is less than full a half of a day.

There are external speakers but no speaker phone.

The new Internet is pricey for the content and the TV feature....what a joke , streaming clips of nothing live and a junk selection of channels. What a waist of money.

When scrolling through menu options or phone book, very very slow to respond.

My roommate has the same phone with a entire other list of problems, I feel bad for him. Many problems especially with the camera feature. This phone makes a very poor cell service, like Sprint, that much more annoying. I am sure there are more problems to come with my phone and some I have forgotten to list but I think I have stated my point. I just want to help out, I hate to see anyone else waist money on this phone just for aesthetics.

If anyone knows of a driver so I can use this phone with a Mac it would make my life somewhat more enjoyable. It would be nice to use the MP3 function without having to buy music from Sprint.

This phone is just what everyone else nowdays like A cheap imitation of the RZR. Serioulsy its nice n cool. But it has so many different technical issues its not funny. When one thing is ok the other one goes wrong. I have had a friend replace it 4 times in 2 months. That to me only says he got rip off. The songs r cool but only 80? thats pretty bad. Even in my phone i can carry up to 125 or so, not to much either but its a bit more. Live t.v. on it its XPENSIVE. U have to have the service n then U HAVe to pay for the channel. I mean this phone defeats the purpose of it. It has a thin design just like anyother RZR wanna be phone, it has music but only 80 songs(which you cant even use as ringtones), life T.v. is a rip off, n its sprint to their service is not so great. But just like the Rzr if you drop it this phone will break in pieces. Seriously if you think this phone is perfect just wait for the RZR with Itunes its seriously gonna be the coolest cellphone lol. or just even go with a RZR this phone is really not worth it.
