Good phone but not without flaws.
Reviewer: solegan on Sun Mar 21, 2004
This phone has great color to go along with a decent size screen. Ringtones included with the phone kinda suck but you can always download others. Some may sound a bit low. Ear piece has great sound for hearing the entire convo. If you like to customize your phone book with each person having it's own pic for caller ID and personal ringtones then this phone is not for you. Has AOL IM software installed for those AOL buddy fans (great feature). Battery life is kind of poor if you like using a lot of your features on the phone. It also tends to hangtime (freeze up) right ater making a call. Build in infared lets you have the option of connecting wireless or with data cord. Using the Easy GRPS is simple and makes trasfering ringtones and pics to the phone a snap. You can also send contacts from phone to pc and pc to phone, as well as appointments. No camera, but that's fine with me. I can say that I'm confortable with this phone.

great phone
Reviewer: celticqt on Mon Feb 07, 2005
this is a great little phone I got, especially considering it was free.. didnt have much of a choice, since I was broke at the time i wasnt expecting much out of a free phone but I was pleased with what I got.
its very small and lightweight, and using this phone i've had the best reception inside or outside that i've ever had., I used to get dropped calls in my building at work but with this phone i've never had a dropped call. it has a lot of the features I like, including the aim software (its just like using aim on a regular computer) you can download ringtones, wallpaper and games etc.. the graphics are pretty good. the charge time is awesome.. I usually charge it every night, just in case but it doenst always need it. it takes between an hour and two hours to charge, which is a lot less than other phones i've heard about.
Now the negatives
it doesnt have a camera, but there is a near identical model (cant think of the model # though) that does have one. I dont think Tmo sells it anymore.. they might, but if not you can buy it elsewhere like Ebay.. If you dont care about the camera then thats great! the ringtones that come with the phone are crappy, they dont have any normal ones.. so I downloaded my own. the memory for ringtones is short so the tones of ppl singing dont last long, but the regular poly tones are decent.. if you download from other sites it turns out kinda bad when they play on your phone. thats really all I can think of that's bad about the phone,
overall its a thumbs up

false advertising? e105 needs data kit to sync
Reviewer: jimsauer on Fri Jun 24, 2005
I bought this phone because I loved the data sync capabilities of my old phone (Nokia 6560). Unfortunately, the e105 is nowhere nearly as capable.
The biggest limitation of the e105 is that you have to purchase the "Easy GPRS" data kit (including the data cable, which you don't need) -- this lists for $80 on the Samsung site. I have read (here on this site, and on other sites) that you can download the EasyGPRS software for free from the Samsung (or Samsung.de) web site -- unfortunately this is not true.
I haven't decided whether or not I'll get the EasyGPRS software. I hear that it won't sync with Outlook... it just syncs with the phone... meaning I'll have to have two contact lists after all.
Another limitation of this phone is the databook. I put in less than a month's worth of appointments (20 to 25 events total) and then it complained that it was "full".
My old Nokia on the other hand (a TDMA phone that only worked on the old ATT Wireless network), would sync 3 months of data at a time, hundreds of appointments. The software for that phone was a free download from the Nokia site, and did a decent job of getting appointments and contact information directly from Outlook.
Bottom line about the phone: If you don't care about syncing your phone with your computer, go ahead and get this phone, it's small and works fine. If you're buying it because of the infrared data sync, beware... you'll have to buy the data kit, and even then won't sync with Outlook.
Bottom line about Samsung: I used to think Samsung was a good company. This experience has me feeling that they sold this phone as having a capability (infrared data transfer) that really doesn't exist unless you purchase additional software -- that feels like false advertising to me. I've talked to three people at Samsung support, including a supervisor, and felt like I got the run-around.

Samsung E105
Reviewer: Exit24 on Mon May 08, 2006
This phone was great, I got it as a free phone when i started with tmobile. Allthough its a simple phone it was a great starter phone. In the year I used it I never turned it off once, it always had a signal and great reception.
