Samsung E635 review!

Reviewer: cheerchick8164 on Sat Jan 13, 2007

This is an awesome phone. I have dropped it about a million times and all it has are some minor scratches. The Setup is very easy to use and navigate. The camera takes awesome pics for something so small!!! The only complaint i have is that the time is hard to see once the phone goes in to standby...other than that an awesome phone that I would recommend to anyone!!!

Overall a fantastic phone

Reviewer: KSpark on Thu Jun 15, 2006

I've had my little E635 for quite a while now (got it about 6 weeks before it was released), and I must say I am very satisfied with it. I usually take excellent care of my electronics, but it's a different story for phones. This little beast goes with me everywhere. I've dropped it, kicked it, hit it, everything, but it's a trooper. The only scratches that are visible from more than about 6 inches away are a couple tiny nicks on the battery. The screen and the shiny rear black plastic look nearly new. This was my first slider phone, and now I love them. Answering calls is quick, easy, and only requires the flick of a thumb. When I first got it, I thought reliability might be an issue, but it's turned out to be a very durable phone. The small flap that covers the charging port has not broken off yet, and I am willing to bet will not do so for a very long time. I am more worried about the port where hands-free devices go, on the side. I received two of these phones, and it has broken off already on one of them. It's still in place on the second one, but bends easily if you push it. In my opinion that will be the first part to go on most E635s. I keep my phone in my pocket all the time, and it seems as if pocket lint is becoming a problem. I have to clean out the ridges along which the top part slides every now and then to get rid of the tiny lint particles that accumulate and make it difficult to slide. Now for a general list of features I found useful, or wanted but did not get:

+scratch resistant
+very long battery life
+good call quality
+easy to take pictures
+friendly UI
+very small
-screen could be significantly larger
-low-quality LCD
-buttons small, especially D-pad
-when backlight's off, hard to see time
-fingerprint attracting screen
-no bluetooth
-no mp3 ringtones
-can't record own ringtones even though there's a voice recorder
-not very thin
-earpiece port can easily break off

Samsung E635

Reviewer: dragonflygrrl on Mon Oct 03, 2005

I love my phone! It is really small, which might be off-putting for those with larger fingers, but for me it is perfect! Also, the graphics are very good, and the camera is good. The neat thing about the camera, IMO, is the effects. You can make the picture look like a sketch, like an embossed design, like a negative, etc. Not very practical maybe, but undeniably fun to play with. I was worried about the durability of the slide, but it actually feels more stable than most flip phones. The only thing I'm not completely in love with is the little "lid" thing that covers the charger plug-in...I can just see it breaking off, it's so tiny. But time will tell on that, it may yet surprise me. So basically, I pretty much agree with fatkid, everyone should get this phone unless they have big fingers and have a hard time with the little buttons. If you have little hands you will LOVE this phone.

Review about Samsung e635

Reviewer: fatkid4life on Sun Sep 11, 2005

Ok, im 14 years old and i got this phone about 3 days ago. When i got it i opened the box, and was amazed. My first thought was how can it be so small? I couldnt believe it. I turned it on was amazed by the quality of the color and the setup.
The camera's great, not ridiculously amazing, just normal quality. The camera has really bright flash, the frames in my opinion are not that great, and rotation. It has really great features, all of the good stuff, that you will have fun with. One really great thing is the melody composer. It's crazy, its got almost 20 instruments and you can put them all together and make ringtones. The ringtones it comes with arent that great but they're fine. The volume of the ringtones are good. Another cool feature is the voice recorder. Although you cant make your recordings your ringtones you can still play them on the loud speaker. Which brings me to the speakerphone, which is great, its loud and its good quality. The phonebook and text messaging system is great, easy to use. A really cool thing is the infared thing on the side. It allows you to send things from your computer to you phone or from your phone to another phone wirelessly. There are only two games on the phone, but thats enough because they're both awesome. The games are SnowBallFight and BubbleSmile. SBF is awesome, its a really cool game, hard to explain. So basically the whole phone is great in features.
THE ONLY THING MISSING IS VIDEO PHONE!
When i found that out i reconsidered getting the phone, but i did anyways. I didn't regret it. When somebody sees a regular video phone, they say "oh thats cool it has video". But when all of my friends saw this phone, they were constantly commenting on the awesome design. The sliding design is freaking awesome. Its the smallest slider phone ever i think. It feels really good in your hands.
SO, i think the design makes up for the video phone.

In conclusion, i think everybody needs to get this phone. It has great features and has a great design. The only thing thats missing is video phone, but i easily got over that.

My first slider phone

Reviewer: brucechang on Thu Oct 20, 2005

Let me start by saying this is my third cell phone I've ever owned. My first being a Motorola StarTac. Loved that thing. Too bad, TDMA is being phased out and I'm forced into the GSM world. So I bumped up to the Motorola V551 flip phone. Loved the phone, hated the reception. For some reason Cingular couldn't get it to work right. So I had to drop Cingular and ported over to T-mobile. Now I'm using the e635 and love it.

Advantages: Tiny
No antenna to jab you in the leg.
Slider phone
Speaker phone
Always gets reception even when the signal strength shows 1 bar.

Disadvantages: Menus hard to navigate: if you've ever had a motorola phone, not only are the menus well organized, they're easy to get to and you can customize just about anything. Samsung hasn't jumped on the bandwagon.
Buttons are not customizable.
Charging port cover (still undecided but it does keep the dust out)
Microphone on bottom of phone, easily covered by finger
Switching to Silent mode requires navigating menus

This is what I've gotten out of the month of using this phone. It's a good phone, there's probably better out there but for the price I paid, $50, it's a great phone. No sense in spending an arm and a leg for a phone that's only nominally better.

Best phone ever. :-)

Reviewer: Knotthead on Wed Dec 13, 2006

This is the best phone ive ever had it is the haha like 10th phone i have. I have had it for 1 year without any problems Its a sturdy little phone i was talking on speaker phone with my x and my friend didnt want to listen anymore so she tried to shut it while it was in my hands but it went flying and fliped on the ground a little bit. i went over there thinking that the screen was going to be cracked or it being in 2 peices but when i picked it up there was nothing wrong with it till this day i cant find a scratch on it. i spilled my drink on it and baby oil and it didnt do anything the side door broke off of it but i dont really care whats i use this phone for is music all you have to do is. like your voice recorder thing on it record songs i have about 10 songs on it and it can still record about and and hour and a half more songs. This phone is like my personality i can costomize anything i want with it except the out side but thats ok cause the out side is awsome. Alot of people have come up and said i like your phone and stuff like that alot ask me how much is it haha it is a great phone and still will be a great phone forever. the speakerphones great and so is it when you dont have it on speaker the bottons are small but thats why i love it. can be very colorfull. you can put pictures on the phone book people and every time they call you can see there pics very cool anyway if you want to buy a phone like this one and need to know more email me at spriteco@hotmail.com feel free to ask anything about the phone.

wow i'm lucky

Reviewer: PogoThePup on Fri Sep 08, 2006

i've had this phone for about 3 months now and its been through hell with me. i've dropped, it kicked it, smashed it into the ground thrown it onto cement and had a mexican sit on it. ( a really fat one) also just today i dropped something (not telling you what that something is) into a sewage pond near my house. no it wasnt my phone it was a stick. as i reached forward to try and grab it i slipped and i fell straight into the water which was suprisingly deep not until 20 minutes later did i realize i had my phone in my pocket. i was like oh sh!t. i cleaned off the mud wet grass and water off of it and i opened it praying to the lord that it broke. but it still works! after a whole summer i cannot find a way to break it so if you are a very unlucky, clumsy, stupid person like me than you should get this phone.

UMMM...it's ok

Reviewer: vlhayes on Thu May 24, 2007

The phone was ok. One thing that I really loved about the phone is the camera. It has a snapshot option that you don't find on many phones. I just love how one could navigate easily without having to slide the phone open.

I didn't have too many problems with it. I didn't care too much about the speakerphone though. It was kinda crappy.

The phone is sooo tiny and light too!

I think this phone would be great for the one's that don't care too much about features.

But overall it is an ok phone.
