Phone is great I find the quality for the money to be excellent.
As far as mp3 ringtones just change the ext to .3gp works well. Comes with data cable this should be easy. As far as voice notes heres a cool trick type #*22671# will start a recording that will last for an hour and noone can tell. Also works during phone call with no beeps or any kinda alert pretty sneaky. It will save a file on your phone called engmode when u start this code phone will tell u on display then u clear and it recoeds til u type #*22672# hope ppl find this as useful as i do icon_cool.gif

I've also had my T809 a few days and was able to put it through its paces. Here are my opinions.

Dislikes:
The menus are a bit much. Do not like the "Flash" menu at all. But if you've worked with Microsoft Office, then you're used to menues.
No memo to jot down notes. There is a To-do, but that's tied to the calendar.

Likes:
Oh boy! So much to like about this cell phone.
Although the menu can be cumbersome, there are several ways you can get to what you want, as well as back up from where you're at. I'll give the menu system a 7
The camera is good, but not as good as a digital camera. I'll give this an 8
The video is really fun, but don't try to make the image larger. This I'll give a 9
Okay, we get a cell phone to make and receive phone calls.
I love the size. I can slip it into a pant pocket with no sweat. I'll give this a solid 10
Clarity. I never had a phone this clear, and my first carrier was Voicestream (now T-mobile). Even with one bar I can hear the caller clearly and the caller can hear me clearly. This is definitely a 10
Dialing is a snap, as well as the phonebook. I can cluster my numbers by groups (family, friends, etc.) which makes looking up a number pretty easy. This I'll also give a 10
MP3 player. The player isn't as clear as one would like it, but it isn't bad either. musical vocals are okay. They do make pretty classy ringtones. This I'll have to give an 8
Games...forget it. a flat 0. I didn't put this in the dislike column because, truthfully, I rarely play cell phone games.
Changing settings is a snap. This I'll give a 9

Overall, this is a great cell phone for the money. Whoever gets one, I do believe, will be very happy with it. Overall, I'll Give the Samsung SGH-T809 a 9.5

Hi, i'm from Singapore. This model is known as Samsung D820 in my country. I juz purchased this handset around 2 weeks ago. i am amazed by it's user interface. Using my mp3 as ringtones was easy and the 1.3 mega pixel cam works like a dream! It comes with a 64mb transflash card which is a real big bonus on top of the 70mb phone memory given. The down side would be the short battery life. I need to recharge it daily though due to my high useage of the phone. i love the big LCD screen display and the 262K color vivid display lights up my day. Though this is my first Samsung phone, I'm very satisfied with it even after comments from my friends that Samsung phones are not user friendly. Three cheers for Samsung!

Cheers

This is one of the sexiest, brightest, most beautiful screens you've ever seen on any phone, and the great user interface shows it off to good effect. People will stop and ask you about your phone! Be sure to let them play around because it just feels so good and looks so good in your hands and on your ear. I've enjoyed using this more than any other phone I've had, by far. People I call say they can hear me better on my cellphone than my home page. I switched to T-Mobile to get this phone and I'm glad I did.

The list of fun things you can do with the phone is near endless. You can sync your contacts, calendar, and to-do list with Outlook (a bit of a pain, but the software is included). You can take pictures with special effects, edit them, and send them in picture messages or emails. You can text message with a single key (left) from the home page. The T9 text entry system is very good and learns new words when you enter them. It has an Inbox, Outbox, Sent Box, and Draft Box for messages, just like your desktop email program. (Tip: slide the phone closed while writing a message and it gets saved as a draft.) You can take your videos and play them full screen with great stereo sound. You can take pictures and quickly Bluetooth them to a friend without asking for passwords or nterrupting them. (Tip: Pair the phones with Bluetooth/My Devices/Options/Authorize.) It's endlessly configurable, right down to things like the font color and size used when dialing, and little effect sounds like opening and closing the slider.

I have a couple of gripes. In order:
1. Too much agro to sync with Outlook. Requres undocumented hack.
2. Too much agro to use MP3s as ringtones. (Tip: Rename them with .3gp extension.)
3. Menus are a bit long and the most common items are often buried. On the plus side, you can the number keys to speed through them.
4. There is no way to see your photos full-screen on that gorgeous screen without making them the wallpaper. Lame!
5. The camera has lots of controls, but they're hard to find and too many button presses are required to use them when shooting.
6. The Opera browser doesn't run, so you're limited to the weak Open Wave browser that's included. It looks like no Java apps will run except the ones T-Mobile sells. Can someone confirm this?

Hope that helps!

Great phone with great features. Miss my voice activated calling & email client but just barely becasue this phone handles the lack of the voice dialing by being very good at getting you to the numbers you want very quickly & with 9 speed dail settings you don't really need it. Love the voice notes. Can get pop3 emails through t-zones & wap. To use your own mp3's as ringtones simply change the extention to .3gp & send to the phone through bluetooth, usb, or even email it to the phone. Waiting for accessories support to catch up, need holster & screen protector.

One really great features is that when the ringer is set to max, it rings loud for a second, then imediately switches to low & gradually get louder through the course of the ring.

Battery life is ok but should be longer. I get about 1 1/2 - 2 days off one full charge with heavy usage.

This is the best phone I have had yet, i used to have the motorola v3 razr but disliked the customizations on it so i bought this one, and it is just awesome. It looks sleek and professional, i can listen to music (its pretty loud too), watch videos, everything.

the graphocs and pizels are maxed out, it looks just so krisp, its fun to just stare at it icon_lol.gif

i only have 2 dislikes about this entire phone.

for one the cover gets a tiny bit loose but im sure that i can b fixed somehow and secondly that when ur listenin to music the bottom part where the speakers are gets pretty hot, idn if that could damage anything icon_blink.gif

besides everything, i would extremely recommend this phone!!!

they will come out with 1gb trans-flash memory card, just give them time

beautiful phone period. slim and simple looking. i enjoy that throughly.

just got it today and played with it a little and found some things:

Pros:
-beautiful screen. simply amazing. i thought my old phones screen was really nice but this blows it away
-looks great
-slim
-black
-nice camera
-decent mp3 player, speakers are pretty loud. dont really plan on using it that much
-slide feels more solid than my previous slider phone (d415)
-reading the forum to get my mp3s as ringtones. make this phone 10 times better.
-speakerphone is good

now on to the cons:
-stupid gradually louder ringtone...come'on samsung cant you give the option to turn it off?
-buttons are flat, not used to them and constantly am hitting the wrong ones.
-small 5 way buttons on the front when closed. thought that it would be more of a problem but it wasnt
-i have a feeling my charge port door is gonna fall of in the next week (as i charge it everynight)
-menu system is ridiculous. too extensive...you ahve to go through 5 menus just to get to your ringtones. but i guess as i get more used to the phone it wont be a problem.
-no silent shutter sound
-no way to set own mp3s as seperate caller tones.

all in all a good phone and am happy with it. the only real "major" cons of it are the gradually loud ringer, flat buttons, menus (till i get used to them), setting mp3s as caller tones doesnt appear to be possible. icon_sad.gif

Pros:
-Stereo speakers=very loud and clean...excellent especially for samsung...up until this past year samsungs were at the bottom of my list but they proved themselves worthy with this phone and the m900 or a900.
-the camera is excellent when it comes to cellphones....im still waiting for a phone to take a digital image lyk a reg camera
-Screen....QVGA....very clear and neatly orginized...and the screen size isnt all tat big so the pixels r more closely together which makes a super clear screen...but still a big screen...wut is it 2.1 or 2.2
-Ofcourse voice quality is great....its t-mobile we're talking about
-The style of the phone is awsome very sleek and sexy
-Transflash
-MP3 player w/cool visualizers

Cons:
-Camera doesnt flip 360

Got my T809 three days ago. Awesome phone. Just a few gripes. It's really difficult to set your own mp3s as ringtones. Pictures not taken with the phone are near impossible to set as the background image.

Documentation on these things are sparse, but they are available.

Like I said, few gripes.

Good stuff:

Sliding front face = rocks
Autolocking = rocks
1.3 MP Camera = rocks
MP3 Player = rocks

And for a business man on the go, the voicenotes are an awesome addition.

Rating: 7/10

well I've had my t809 for about 2 weeks. I love the phone, however, there are a few things that i don't like.

When adding contacts I can't add alternate numbers or assign ringtones or caller id pics. The only time i was able to do this was when I first added some contacts.

When taking pictures sometimes it will appear upside down. Just hit your volume key and the picture will turn right side up.

I work for T-Mobile. I have the motorola v3 razr- a phone I really really dislike, sidekick II- I love email and internet on this phone but hate talking on it... and nokia 6101 is my basic whenever phone but has alot of cool basic features.

I ordered my t809 on a Friday and came into work on Monday and found out about the MDA.....I really wish I had waited!!!! LOL.

This is the first time I am trying a phone other than Nokika and that was also because T-Mobile does not offer good phone so this one was the best.
Pros

Nice shape, Screen, Trans memory, Mute shortcut and voice recorder.

Con

1) You can not set a ring tone with Vibrating alert. There is one option to set it but it vibrates first and then rings. After 4 bells my phone goes to voice mail so it does not get to the ring tone.

2) Very difficult to set mp3 as ring tone.

3) If you rotate the camera towards ur self then it shows an upside down picture. I can't find any rotate feature in the phone.

4) Slow processor
