so slim and light yet a solid feel, excellent speakerphone, clear sound and good noise cancellation. nice menus. included tones and sounds suck, get a PC bluetooth usb adapter for a few $ and download the free software from samsung to manage all data on the phone. slips into my jeans back pocket and i can't tell its there.

the downside is that the 'backlit' printing of numbers on the keys lacks contrast and visibility, same for the letters which are very small. i don't wear glasses but this may make me want to. i have not used text messaging much before so i'm slow and need to look at the buttons rather than know them automatically.

I've had a Nokia 3650 for over four years now (I bought the day it came out), minus a short, horrifying stint with a SE T68i, and on Sept. 11 ordered this slick looking piece because it was time to move on, and this thing provided everything I wanted, and seemingly more. Because of where I live and where my accoint is based, and shipping issues, I only got the phone yesterday, but have spent 70% of the time since then playing around with it (some of the downtime was for the first full charge). What I like about the phone is probably the best place to start.... Bluetooth is fully enabled and useful imo, though it's missing datasync (but that's what the Samsung software is for), form factor is slim, tight, and well-drawn, and dispite my big hands it feels natural during calls and browsing around. The whole phone feels solid and trustworthy, I'm always good to my phones anyway. SLIM! What a change from the 3650. I like that it plays videos, mp3's (more on both of these in a minute), I enjoy the camera and video capabilities, the menus are easy to navigate and all look pretty cool. The flash screens that the phone gives during startup, calls, recording, etc, look pretty trippy.
What I don't like, and I'll try to make this short:
No fullscreen video (from what I've read this is T-Mobile's fault), no changeable softkeys (t-mobile), the menu highlight bar color is only pink (t-mo...), some formats promised not supported (t-mo...), java apps can't access the internet (t-mo...), you only have 5 sounds to choose from for message alerts (Samsung this time, I JUST WANT A BEEP!), and no installable non-java applications, but this is me just missing Symbian.
I give the phone about a 7.5 to 8.5, as I'm liking it more and more after finding what was wrong with it. It'd be a perfect 10 if a european firmware flash came out (or a 3rd party, 'sall good), because this phone is just short of absolutely perfect.

I got the t519 on September 11, 2006 and since then I have grown to love it. The menus are logical, the camera is spectacular, and the mp3 player is nice. The only problem I have run across is it seems that you can't turn off the camera noise when you take a picture. Besides from that it is a great phone. If you like the t509, then the Trace is probably for you.

First let me say that overall it's a good phone with all the up-to-date features. icon_smile.gif The few quirks I have may not be deal breakers to most. Though it's a thin phone it does feel heavy & sturdy in my hand unlike the T509 which felt like my son's play phone. If you had a regular/thicker phone prior to this one it takes some getting use to. Menus are easy to understand if not cumbersome in some areas. Example, while deleting a message or phone number you go through 3 or 4 steps to get to the actual deletion of the item. Speaker phone quality is good but that's probably because it doesn't get very loud at it's highest volume setting. Ironically, HiFi ringtones sound very loud. Call volume could be a little louder. Included ringtones, well, they suck really. icon_sad.gif Thank god for downloads n' bluetooth. Screen is very bright even at mid-level setting. Camera is good. Charger connector seems delicate and awkward. icon_alien.gif Right now it's hard to find accessories specifically for this phone due to it recent release. Don't think that I'm not excited about this phone. It's just that many of the T519's features are available on dozens of other phones. It just depends on what package you want them in. I happen to like this one. icon_biggrin.gif

i upgraded to this from an unlocked nokia 6620 and am generally very happy. it obviously lacks the customizablity and application suites available to a s60 phone BUT i'm not missing my symbian OS boot times or the frustrating gui. this thing was built with simplicity and usability in mind.

I just wish t-mo hadn't crippled the j2me network features it really makes using the latest and greatest 3rd party apps impossible.

reception and battery life are great. the lcd is a thing of beauty.
