I must have gotten an above average 8300.....So far I have absolutely no complaints. Sound quality on my phone has been about as good as any other mobile i've used, however i almost always use an earbud. Maybe it's just my hearing.....but mine sounds fine, i like the features, the simple navigation and the way it performs on the net.

Just a post script to previous post.......I bought this Sanyo because I had just had two Samsung.....the main difference I noticed right away was the weight......of course.....i figured the heavier.....then it must have better craftmanship.....nope. The samsung was just heavier. There again....maybe i have an above average phone......but.....this sanyo 8300 has superb sound. It may be the fact that the only other phones I've owned have been kyocera's and samsungs and this one sounds so much better than either. Well.....if nothing else.....Sprint does have a 14 day return policy.....so what do you have to lose? At the most it may be a little inconvenient. Even still......I'd rather have a product made in good ole Japan than Korea!

I totally agree with this review.

I thought it was my ears. I feel as though I'm talking to someone in a barrel.

Unfortunately, I kept my phone over my 14-day trial period and now I'm stuck.

I took it into Sprint twice and was told they thought the phone sounded fine. I even talked on a few Sprint employees’ phones and still sounded the same.

I figured it was the way Sprint sounded and I wanted to keep my service with them because of the family plan with other family members.

I had a Motorola i730 and it was crystal clear. I miss it so much!!!

Why do I rate this phone zero? Because the main purpose of a phone is to talk to people right? Well, the sound quality (speakerphone or just talking normal) is absolutely horrible.

I have made about 20 calls in a couple of days to various friends and family. I have to keep asking them to repeat themselves because every sound that comes through this phone sounds like they are talking through a box and their words are not clear at all.

It has nothing to do with the reception on either side...nor the phones they are using...they use the best.

I am taking this back because I am tired of not being able to understand the boxy legacy type speaker that it hosts. It does fine on games and stuff...but for its primary use, it sucks big time. I owned a Samsung previously. I challenge you to try out a Samsung vs. a Sanyo, and you'll notice that at least when talking, a Samsung is crystal clear...no boxiness at all! I miss that.

Right now I feel as though I'm deaf with this phone.
