This is not a good phone. Picture quality is not good and PTT button is very annoying. Signal receiving is not as good as my nokia one. Sometimes the voice is intermittent even the signal strength shows good. Difficult to open by one hand

I just activated my new Z525a today. My previous phone was a Moto v220. It worked fine for me until we moved to the edge of Cingular's coverage area. For the past year and a half I have put up with no signal starting about 12 miles from my house. My choices according to the locals were to switch to Alltell (definate no! been there, done that), or research and find a new phone. Part of the reason I waited was due to my fear of spending money on a phone only to have it not get a signal either.
After much reasearch I decided on the Z525a. I found that the general consensus held the z520 as a good all around phone with a fairly good signal. I thought I'd take a chance on the z525a as it is the most recent incarnation of the z520 and it was free to get as an upgrade. I was NOT disappointed.
The good part after a day of use:
- I can get a signal in my house!
- Graphics are clear, bright
- Fairly easy to navigate without much reading of the manual
- Ringtones are nice and loud (easy to hear at noisy sporting event)
- Earpiece is nice and loud. You don't have to make sure you have it in the right place to hear.)
- Camera and video is easy to use and of decent quality.
The bad (or slightly annoying) stuff:
- The PTT button has replaced the camera button on the side. However, it still is too easy to hit. Luckily, this doesn't seem to interrupt calls.
- The controls for the games are slightly confusing. Also, the buttons really are too small to play any of the games well when speed is required.
The above "bad" stuff doesn't bother me too much as my phone is used first and foremost as a phone. Everything else is just icing on the cake. My phone also came with a free bluetooth earpiece which I haven't tried yet. I am just glad I can finally use my phone at my house again.

I have owned a TON of Cingular phones...pretty much almost everything that they have at some point. I have also owned the previous Sony Ericsson model, the Z520a. It was a good phone, however the ringtones were not that great (I like just a "phone" sound) and the darn camera button on the side was just too easy to press in your pocket or when opening or closing the phone. SO, with that being said, here's what I think of this new model:
PROS
GREAT reception!
good speakerphone (very clear)
easy to navigate, as are all sony phones in my opinion
good camera (after you use the photo edit tool and mess with it)
surprisingly good video, and you can set it to record for long periods of time
mobile email added
an actual "phone" sounding ring tone which is nice and loud but not annoying
great earpiece volume, and is easy to switch from spkr phone to normal
EXCELLENT battery life
organizer on phone is very detailed and has many options
PTT (and they have added a feature where you can actually lock this key when the phone is closed so that when you press it, nothing happens in your pocket)...VERY handy!
lots of memory for what you need it for (16 or 17mb I believe)
VERY good bluetooth and infrared for file transferring
CONS
Outside display shows all you need, but does not show pictures for picture ID and is fairly difficult to see on a bright, sunny day
no flash for camera
only 65K screen on inside, but is still sharp for 65K
is difficult to open with one hand and is not "spring-loaded" like other flips (but if you use a leather case from Cingular it is easy to open one-handed)
OVERALL
This is a great phone at a great price, and I feel it is a big upgrade from the previous model without the PTT. And if I used the PTT, I'm sure that would be yet another plus! I hope this helps!!!

I wish I could say I had a good experience with this particular model. However, I have been with Cingular for 6+ years (back when they were Bellsouth Mobility) and have never experienced a problem with any phone (I've always had a sonyerricson or motorola) until this model. I am on my 3rd replacement in a years time. Additionally, I continuously have reception issues where I haven't with previous models. I am now eligible for an upgrade am looking forward to being rid of this phone.
