Storage
The Snap has 256MB of ROM and 192MB of RAM, which is pretty good for
even a smartphone. With 192MB of memory, there isn't much need for a microSD
card unless users plan on adding a full library of songs or downloading
lots of applications. The card can add up to 16GB of additional memory.
The phone comes pretty packed, but still leaves a reasonable 60MB for
new items.
The handset also stores shared memory capacity for contacts with room
to store a photo ID, two work phone numbers, mobile phone number, two home
phone numbers, custom ring, three email addresses, three IM IDs, company
phone number, pager number, car phone number, work fax, home fax, assistant
phone, radio phone, Web page, company and department information, job title,
office and home address, another address, birthday, anniversary, government
ID, manager's name, account name, customer ID, spouse, children and assistant's
names for each contact.
The Snap has plenty of room for storage, and more than enough information
available to store for each contact.
Connectivity
The fact that the Snap comes packaged with a USB chord, an audio adapter
and a stereo headset is the first clue that the Snap has a bundle of connection
possibilities. Through the USB chord, the handset can connect to a computer
to sync music, sync email or use remote desktop mobile and Internet sharing
to use a computer's Internet service.
The Snap also supports Bluetooth and has a Bluetooth Explorer application
and allows for enhanced data rate and Advanced Audio Distribution Profile
for wireless stereo headsets. Bluetooth users can connect wirelessly to
the phone to activate printing, phone and Internet uses.
The Snap has numerous ways to connect to Bluetooth, computers, and listen
to music. Better yet, much of what you need to stay connected comes with
the phone package.
Conclusion
The Snap is a communicator's friend. Whether a person needs to check
email without worrying their account won't coordinate with their phone,
needs to prioritize emails by who they come from with Inner Circle, edit
Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents, review a PDF file with Adobe Reader
LE sent via email, search the Internet, or send a picture, video or text
message, the Snap is prepared to keep a user connected.
Even beyond the phone, connection continues with ActiveSync of music,
phone to computer connection and program syncing, Bluetooth options, and
a headset.
The Snap has nearly 200MB of memory, a few built-in games and sports
news applications, and, for an added cost, access to TV shows, movies, and
clips of live or recorded video. The phone has great sound and volume options,
especially for the headset.
Users should plan on using all of the above features to their advantage.
But they shouldn't rely on the phone to take solid pictures, play self-recorded
videos in a format that's easy to see or offer the same wide variety of
tools available on most phones.
The smartphone's Internet service is fast but often takes a bit of a
pause to navigate. The lack of Wi-Fi is a significant drawback.
Its design is sleek, smooth and appealing and the thin phone rests easily
in the palm, but smaller isn't always better, especially when it comes to
the convenience of its keyboard.
The screen is decent, but could stand to have better color resolution
and maybe a bit more vertical size.
Music offerings are great and so is the audio, so it's a shame so many
of the built-in ringtones are simplistic.
Overall, the Snap has a few shortfalls in the entertainment and picture-taking
department and could stand to have a few design changes that would make
the phone taller or wider without making it thicker.
But the phone does what a personal device is supposed to, which is keep
the user connected through numerous outlets and have enough applications
to make business on the go simple.
