LG CG225 Review - Camera / Basic Features

Camera

The CG225 features a 0.3-megapixel camera which is easily accessed by a dedicated camera button along the right side of the phone.

Brightness (Left / Right) and Zoom Level (Up / Down) can be adjusted with the navigational keypad. The Brightness can be adjusted from -4 to +4 and the Zoom can be set to 2x or 4x, although neither is available at the highest resolution (640 x 480 px), and 4x is only available at the lowest setting (160 x 120 px).

Through the menu, the user is able to adjust the camera's basic options including Image Size (160 x 120 px, 320 x 240 px, 640 x 480 px), Brightness (-4 to +4), White Balance (Auto, Daylight, Incandescent, Cloudy, Fluorescent), Zoom (2x and 4x), Color Effect (Color, Mono, Sepia), Self-Timer (5 sec and 10 sec), Multi Shot (1, 3, 6, and 9 shots), and customizable Shutter Sound. The CG225 does not have a Flash although the brightness adjustment can help with photos in low light conditions. The external LCD is not used with the camera function and without a self portrait mirror, so the user will be challenged to take a picture of themselves.

With 300 KB of memory available for storing pictures, the CG225 is lacking in storage, only able to save up to 75 photos taken at 160 x 120 px, 23 photos at 320 x 240 px, or 7 photos at 640 x 480 px. Video capability is not offered on the CG225. However, with limited memory space and the poor quality that even the best phone video cameras offer, this is not a great loss.

LG CG225 FlipThe C225's 0.3-megapixel camera is lacking in comparison to the 2.0 and 3.2-megapixel cameras on some of today's high end phone. However, the CG225 targets consumers who may not be looking for a digital camera replacement, finding it more useful for impromptu moments. Competing against entry-level phones, the CG225 adds some essential features over the bare basics.

Basic Features

The CG225 offers quad-band functionality (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), allowing users to communicate from around the globe.

Offering a basic menu listed as a 3x3 grid, the CG225 does not allow for any customization of its layout. The wallpaper of the internal display is the only customization option available to the user as the cloud scene on the external screen is a static image.

With limited features on the CG225, the 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery offers impressive results. LG rates it for up to 6.0 and 240 hours (10 days) of talk and standby time. Offering little in the way of customization, fortunately the CG225 provides the user with quad-band functionality and long battery life for strong communication anywhere in the world, provided the phone is unlocked.
