Messaging

With the internal full-keyboard, the enV clearly places high importance on messaging. Users may use Mobile IM, access email, chat, and send a variety of text messages in order to meet their electronic communication needs.

In terms of text messaging, users may opt to send a regular text message in addition to picture and video messages. Text messages may be sent to a total of ten contacts at a time, and contain up to 160 characters. The text format may be adjusted in terms of alignment, font size, font style, text color, and background.

Users may spice up their regular text messages with simple images, animations, and sounds, as well as a pre-set personal signature. Quick Text phrases such as "What's up?" and "You've gotta be here to enjoy this" help to insert the proper sentiment with minimal typing. Users may save phrases in a given text message to use as later Quick Text.

Picture messages may be sent to a maximum of four contacts at once and feature up to 1000 characters in addition to a picture and / or sound recording. Video messages work similarly, with the video substituted for the picture and sound.

Third-party email access is available through Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 network. Users may also download IM applications, including biggies AIM, MSN, and Yahoo! Messaging. Chat room access is also available via Mobile Web.

With a variety of available email, IM, and chat options, the enV should be able to help users keep in touch. The full text messaging system helps users contact friends on the go, as well as share pictures and video with loved ones anywhere anytime. With the full keyboard, texting on the enV is much quicker and easier than on traditional phones. The Word predictive text feature also allows users to quickly message on the phone's external keypad.
