Audio
Reading MIDI files much like "musical notes," a local synthesizer recreates
the sound by playing chords. With more simultaneous chords supported, more
sounds can be combined, producing richer-sounding music, and at 40 chords,
the F7200 plays polyphonic ringtones beautifully.
By pressing the Speakerphone Key on the right, users can carry on a handsfree
conversation as well. Convenient and safe to use while driving, the F7200's
speakerphone function comes in handy when attending to another task.
Voice-activated dialing allows users to call someone and share the conversation
with everyone in the room. Or listen to a recorded voice memo to remind
of tasks that need to complete. This is an indispensable feature to hear
callers loud and clear.
Messaging
Sliding open the F7200 reveals the numeric keypad. Allowing users to
text message with ease, standard text messaging formats are included such
as SMS (Short Messaging Service), EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), and
MMS (Multimedia Message Service).
Staying
in touch through MMS, T9 predictive text lets consumers send out messages
with text, sounds, and photos. Additionally, through Cingular's network,
users can access the latest instant messaging platforms.
Going beyond traditional SMS-based chat, the F7200 includes AOL Instant
Messenger (AIM), ICQ, and Yahoo! Messenger preinstalled chat applications
to give users real-time access to friends and family. Allowing users to
keep track of the online status and availability of buddies, users can receive
notifications where there are changes.
Entertainment
Hold up to 200 contacts in the PhoneBook, the F7200 comes with other
basic PIM (Personal Information Management) applications such as Alarm Clock,
Calculator, Calendar with Scheduler, Notebook, Unit Converter, and World
Clock. Users can also check email through SMS gateways, but unfortunately
the F7200 doesn't support accounts through POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP protocols.
For more advanced applications and games, the F7200 supports the J2ME
(Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition) platform. As the most popular platform
for mobile devices, J2ME is deployed on millions of devices and supported
by leading manufacturers as the platform of choice for today's mobile devices.
Not limiting users to preinstalled software, users can download and install
Java-based games and applications. There are already an abundant amount
of programs to choose from; however some require a small fee.
