LG Fusic Review - Basic Features / Screen

Basic Features

Running on Sprint's dual-band CDMA (800 / 1900) network, the Fusic operates on digital frequencies nationwide. Unfortunately this means there's no analog support, but with most of the country blanketed in Sprint's digital network, analog should be a thing of the past.

The Fusic's menu can be displayed in a 12-icon grid structure or list view. As one of the newest devices accessible on Sprint's Power Vision, the Fusic integrates online services into the menu to check the news through On Demand, listen to and buy music through the Music Player, or download multimedia through My Content.

Miscellaneous features include Airplane Mode for operation where radio frequency may be a disruption, TTY/TDD support for the hearing impaired, and English and Spanish language support.

Rating the 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery at 4.5 hours and 7.5 days (180 hours) of talk and standby times, actual times will be slightly less. However, these times are under optimal conditions. Handset manufacturers and carriers often list talk and standby time ratings with disclaimers about variable performance and often refer to the times they publish as maximum times. Actual times will vary.

Screen

The Fusic integrates dual color LCDs, providing the necessary foundation for all other multimedia features to function.

LG Fusic FlipAllowing users to view the phone's status, the 1.25-inch external LCD displays 6 lines including call status, date and time, and signal and battery strength. Projecting 65K-colors at a 96 x 96 px resolution, the LCD even allows consumers to control the Media Player or snap photos with the Camera without ever opening the phone.

Incorporating a superb 2.0-inch (176 x 220 px) internal LCD, the Fusic is ideal for multimedia viewing. The 262K-color display supplies 11 lines of exceptionally brilliant and vivid imaging necessary for video streaming and camera functionality.

Both LCDs are built from TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology, integrating transistors that control the screens' pixels. Offering fast refresh rates by not having to scan pixel locations, TFT technology provides the best resolution of all the flat-panel screens. More vibrant and luminous that other LCD technologies such as STN (Super Twisted Nematic) and OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode), TFT is also the most power intensive, consuming more battery life.
