The Settings and Tools Menu contains most of the functions found on the VX7000. Handy built-in applications such as the Calendar with Notepad allow busy users to store appointments and tasks much like a standard organizer. Other applications such as the Calculator and World Clock are self explanatory and straightforward.

Additionally the Sounds and Displays submenus allows consumers to customize the VX7000's look and feel. Ringtones are CMX MIDI polyphonic or MP3 format, screensavers are animated gifs, and wallpapers are 176 x 220 px images. Even tailor the menu structure by changing font sizes and selecting one of the display themes.

To get more wallpaper or ringtones, Verizon has BREW platform technology. BREW allows users to use Verizon's Get It Now service to download content at up to 230.4 kpbs. Most applications are subscription based and run on average anywhere between $3-5.

Games can also be purchased and downloaded through BREW as well. However, the added convenience of getting applications without having to navigate through WAP comes at the expensive of a view extra dollars.

The VX7000 can function as a modem for a laptop allowing users to send faxes or connect to the internet. However, the data cable accessory and Verizon's Dialer software is required for the connection.

Additionally it can record the voice dial commands for handsfree dialing. Train Words allows the VX7000 learn how users talk, so it knows when people are issuing a voice command or when they're just talking. With the Voice Memo, short messages can be recorded so users can remind themselves of tasks to do.

One note: It is possible to record one's own voice, music from a CD, or any other input source and use it as a ringtone. All that needs to be done is to send the recorded voice file as a picture message through email and save it on the phone.
