LG VX8000 Review - Audio / Messaging / Entertainment

Audio

The LG VX8000 has impressive audio capabilities. The dual external speakers located on front are independent, able to produce stereo sound, making ringtones sound spectacular. Similarly, the 2.5 mm headset supplies stereo music when listening to the VX8000's MP3 player.

Playing up to 64 simultaneous chords, a top of the line synthesizer is included for melodious polyphonic ringtones. Utilize the MIDI file format, music is recreated by overlaying simultaneous tones, playing "musical notes," much like in an orchestra. The more simultaneous chords supported, the better sounding the music.

Messaging

Standard among all phones today, text messaging features include SMS (Short Messaging Service), EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), and MMS (Multimedia Message Service).

EMS allows users to format text such as style, size, alignment, and paragraphs, while MMS lets users attach pictures, sound, video, and time-based sequencing. With the VX8000's camera and camcorder, photos and videos can be combined with text messages for tailored greetings.

LG VX8000 FlipMessages can be typed quicker with predictive text. Instead of having to press keys several times for a letter, the VX8000 uses the T9 standard, choosing from a dictionary of words and phrases to anticipate what is being written.

Additionally, users can log onto AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo! Messenger to chat with friends and family. Similar to the desktop versions, users can quickly send instant messages to people on their list no matter where they are in the world.

Entertainment

Common preinstalled software is included on the LG VX8000, including Alarm Clock, Calculator, Calendar, EZ Tip Calc, Notepad, and World Clock. And should users want to install additional applications or games, the VX8000 supports BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless).

The dynamic BREW platform allows users to transfer and install files on the VX8000 through a PC or through the web. Conveniently, Verizon Wireless also uses its network to bring consumers games, productivity tools, wallpapers, ring tones, and more with Get It Now. For a minimal fee, users can transfer multimedia at the touch of a button.

A new category in Verizon's Get It Now service includes 3D Gaming. Costing more than standard games, about $10 for a 3-month subscription, the 3D games are considerably more entertaining providing 3D rendering and effects reminiscent of the 90s consoles.

LG VX8000 Games - Kingdom Hearts LG VX8000 Games - Swerve Basketball LG VX8000 Games - Asphalt Urban GT

Made by a small UK company named SuperScape, there are currently a few games in a wide range of genres including AMF Bowling, Asphalt Urban GT, Evel Knievel 3D, Evil Slayer, Kingdom Hearts, Spider-Man 2 3D: NY Rooftops, SWAT: The Movie, and Swerve Basketball.
