Motorola RAZR V3m Review - Storage / Connectivity / Conclusion

Storage

Motorola RAZR V3m SideA significant improvement over the limited V3c's memory, the RAZR V3m integrates a microSD expansion card slot (under the battery cover) to store high-resolution photos, MP3s, or VCAST videos.

Aside from the ample 30.0 MB of internal memory, users can purchase extra memory cards up to 1 GB in size for enough space to fully utilizing the V3m's audio and imaging capabilities.

Connectivity

The RAZR V3m supports Bluetooth 1.1 wireless technology, connecting with Bluetooth-compatible accessories within a within a 10 meter (30 feet) radius.

Pairing with a wide variety of Bluetooth devices, the V3m supports Headset Profile (HSP) for wireless communication with popular Bluetooth headsets, Handsfree Profile (HFP) for handsfree car kits, and even Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Profile letting users connect their laptops to go online.

Able of connected through a USB cable, the mini-USB port can transfer multimedia and contacts, and synchronize organizers with a PC.

Conclusion

Last year, after anxiously waiting, Verizon Wireless customers finally got the RAZR V3c, a slim and sexy device previously limited to Cingular and T-Mobile users. The ultra-thin profile attracted consumers, but many were disappointed. While having a 1.3-megapixel camera, and music and video playing capabilities, the V3c lacked true multimedia features, severely crippled by the absence of an expansion card slot to store it. The new RAZR V3m adds the much needed upgrade, expanding options for limitless storage necessary for high-quality music, photos, and video.

Tying in wireless features through high-speed EV-DO broadband connectivity, Verizon Wireless' VCAST Video and Music Stores allow consumers use the V3m to connect with, and purchase, digital media anywhere on the road. Other features such as email and chat offer well-rounded functionality at the touch of a button, however consumers should be aware that the V3m's strengths tie heavily into Verizon Wireless' services and all these features can be an expensive addition to their monthly bill.

As many devices are moving past to 2.0- and 3.2-megapixel cameras, adding A2DP Bluetooth stereo streaming technology, and incorporating 262K- and 16.7 million color screens, several V3m features remain exactly the same. While the V3c offered state-of-the-art multimedia technology last year, in the fast-paced industry of cell phones, the similar V3m is an average device in today's marketplace.

Regardless, one thing the V3m has over everyone else is design. Being still one of the best looking devices on Verizon Wireless' line-up, the Motorola RAZR V3m offers a rare combination of beauty and style.
