Motorola RAZR2 V9 Review - Storage / Connectivity / Conclusion

Storage

Motorola RAZR2 V9 SideThe Motorola RAZR2 V9 comes with 45.0 MB of internal memory and can use removable microSD memory cards of up to 2 GB to store multimedia files such as photos and sounds. Although the internal memory appears adequate for moderate usage, compared to the other two phones in the RAZR2 family - the V8 and V9m, which bear up to 512 MB and 128 MB memory, respectively - the V9's offerings seem scant.

The RAZR2 V9's phonebook holds 1,000 entries, the last 60 dialed and received calls and nine one-touch contact entries. Each of the contact entries can hold up to seven phone or fax numbers, two email addresses, postal addresses, web address, ringer ID, photo ID, birthdays and other notes. The phone's SIM card memory also holds an additional 250 names and numbers.

Connectivity

Connecting to a wide range of Bluetooth-compatible devices is easy with the RAZR2 V9. The phone's updated Bluetooth profiles enable users to take advantage of wireless stereo headphones, handsfree devices, dial-up networking, copying audio and video files to another device and the ability to send text messages, address book and calendar entries to the nearest Bluetooth-compatible printer.

The V9 is enabled for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), Audio / Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), Handsfree Profile (HFP), Headset Profile (HSP), Dial-Up Networking (DUN), Object Exchange (OBEX) Object Push Profile (OPP), Basic Printing Profile (BPP), Basic Imaging Profile (BIP) and OBEX FTP (server only).

Conclusion

The beautifully designed RAZR2 V9 will be a definite upgrade in terms of style and technology for consumers who first fell in love with Motorola's original RAZR V3 design and features back in 2005.

But users looking for a phone with longer battery life or one that exceeds the V9's 45 MB memory limit may want to consider other RAZR2 options like the V8 from T-Mobile or the V9m from Sprint. All models in the RAZR2 line have similar features and are equipped with an external memory card slot that can hold up to 2 GB.

Regardless, this year's RAZR2 V9 model offers a copious assortment of multimedia options ranging from a 2.0-megapixel camera / camcorder and music player to AT&T's high-speed broadband services and Bluetooth compatibility.
