Connections
This phone comes with many options to connect and synchronize. With
EDGE, GPRS, HSCSD, infrared, and Pop-port, the 3200 has everything short
of Bluetooth.
Although not yet mainstream, EDGE is quickly gaining popularity in
the limbo between 2G and 3G phones aptly named 2.5G. The migration of
GSM to EDGE results in less strain on current voice traffic bandwidth
and allows for higher transfer rates. Building on existing technology,
EDGE allows for more than double existing GPRS rates. While theoretically
the 3200 could transfer at speeds of up to 384 kbps, Nokia has decided
to limit it to 118 kbps. Actual rates will be less than that.
An infrared port is included for transferring images, games, and ring
tones from PC to phone. Photos taken by the 3200 can be transferred to
a PC for viewing also. The package does not include a software CD for
synchronization. But it is free for download on the Nokia website.
On the bottom is the outlet for charging your phone, and a system connector,
Pop-port. Pop-port is a Nokia designed outlet that automatically identifies
accessories attached to the phone. It also offers stereo sound with the
use of headphones. Lastly, its also where you can charge your accessories
with a single USB cable without the use of separate power sources. Pop-port
transmits up to 230 kbps.

The Nokia 3200's internal phone book has a maximum capacity to save up
to 256 entries. Each entry can have names with numbers and text notes about
each name. The number of names that can be saved depends amount of memory
left that is dynamically shared among other applications and multimedia.
With the addition of a SIM card you can save up to 250 more names and phone
numbers.
The Phone Book Menu is similar among all Nokia phones. It stores a lot
of critical information. With a complete phonebook such as street addresses
and notes, you can leave the PDA at home. Many other phones have multiple
phone entries and email addresses, but leave out addresses fields and extra
note attachments.
Pictures can also be assigned to contacts. That way when a contact calls,
their pictures will appear on the screen. Additionally, eight names can
be assigned to speed dial for fast access.
