Sound Quality
The
Nokia 6200 has excellent sound quality. Voices are full and clarity is good.
No real problems. As expected though, low frequency boost is present for
increased loudspeaker range.
The loudspeaker is similar to previous Nokia models. Incoming voices
were sufficiently loud and clear. On the other side, voices could be heard
within the first couple feet of the phone. Further than that and clarity
decreases considerably. As expected, background noise gets picked up easily
so use it while driving or at home.
RF Performance
The reception is as good as it gets. The Nokia 6200 is
able to pick up small signals in low reception areas. Additionally, it holds
onto the small signals consistently with minimal drop outs. And incoming
and outgoing calls have minimal distortion, considering the internal antenna.
Overall the Nokia 6200's reception is one of the best and gets a reception
rating of:
Excellent
Pros
· The world's first 3GPP-compliant EDGE phone. Download files at incredibly
fast speeds of up to 118 kbps.
· The first cellular phone to support the 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz GSM
bands.
· Good set of messaging applications. SMS, MMS, EMS, email, chat, and
more.
· Excellent sound quality from the built-in internal speaker instead
of a buzzer found on most phones. Good for FM radio, games, and ring tones.
· The FM radio. Stereo sound and the ability to save up to 20 radio channels.
If you're bored just tune into the airwaves.
· Loudspeaker that's loud and useful. Excellent range and clarity for
a loudspeaker.
· Downloadable games and applications. Install cool programs and delete
delete them when you get tired of them.
· xHTML browsing capabilities. View web pages that support xHTML.
Cons
· 8 chord polyphonic ring tones. A slight improvement over the 4 chords
in previous models, but still behind the main competition.
· 500 kb memory. Not nearly enough for such a fast transfer speed.
Conclusion
The 6200 is a solid well rounded phone with no major problems. Probably
the most famous quality about the phone is its support of EDGE technology
and triband frequency range. If your service provider supports EDGE, you
can download content, applications, access Internet and intranet information
at data rates approximately two times (up to 118 kbps) that of conventional
dial-up (56 kbps).

Much of the phone is similar to the 6610. From the typical 4096 color
128 x 128 pixel screen to the great sound quality. The 6200 shares the same
great FM radio, built-in internal speaker, and loudspeaker. FM radios are
rare in other manufacturer's phones, and Nokia has used it to set its phones
apart from the rest. The sound quality is excellent and the convenience
is exceptional for those long boring days.
Additionally, the 6200 improves upon the 6610's 4 chord polyphonic ring
tones by increasing it to 8. While it's a slight improvement, it still trails
behind Samsung and Sony Ericsson phones.
Inside the phone is a great group of features and applications. The solid
messaging features include MMS, SMS, and email. While seemingly standard
on phones nowadays, it's still important of today's messaging phones.
The 6200 also has a newer xHTML browser. The advantage of using a browser
with an xHTML parser is that it is able to render xHTML pages optimized
for the device it is running on. Developers should only have to write one
version of a web page instead of one version for every browser or device
(desktop, phone, PDA, etc.).
The capabilities of the Nokia 6200 are impressive. EDGE technology, triband
frequency range, and a reliable list of features and applications makes
this phone one of the most well rounded phones on the market. After everything
that's said, we give the Nokia 6200 an overall rating of:
Excellent
