Entertainment
Large selections of 3rd party applications and games have been developed
for the Series 60 platform. So a wide variety of programs can be downloaded
and installed. Software ranging from interactive games, productive applications,
to system enhancements, is all possible.
Additionally, by supporting Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME),
the Nokia 7610 can download and install Java games and applications. There
are an abundance of applications and games due to J2ME's dominance as
the most popular platform for mobile devices. But developers can also
create applications for the 7610 with Java technology.
The 7610 comes with some great bundled software as well. Nokia has included
its Movie Director software, a mobile phone video-editing application
that allows users to create "Muvees" by cutting and piecing together
short clips. Music can be added as well as downloading and changing
MuveeStyles to set the overall look and style of the videos. There is
even a function that automatically decides which clips are most relevant,
and chops and combines video automatically. The resulting videos can
be shown in the pre-installed RealOne Player.
Another
interesting bit of software included in the package is Lifeblog. The name
is a bit confusing since it is not a "blog." Instead it is a PC and
mobile phone software combination that keeps a multimedia history of
items collected on the 7610.
Lifeblog automatically organizes photos, videos, text messages, and
multimedia messages, on both the Nokia 7610 and PC, into a chronological
order that can be browsed, searched, edited, and saved for easy retrieval.
It does the work of organizing the items created and received. Notes,
tags, and favorites can be added throughout the day to make sure items
stay on the phone.
Aside from Movie Director and Lifeblog, other applications are also
included on the supplied 64 MB RS-MMC (Reduced Size MultiMediaCard), including
a Welcome Demo that provides a quick start and help application to guide
new users through the 7610's features, Settings Wizard, and various imaging
and printing applications.
As for built-in software, a standard Calendar is included to keep lives
organized. View the Calendar in monthly, weekly, or daily schedules. A
To-Do list, Calculator, Voice Recorder, Alarm Clock, and Wallet are all
included as Nokia standards and are self-explanatory.

Internet
Many service providers maintain pages specifically designed for cell
phones, offering services such as news, weather, reports, banking, travel
information, entertainment, and games. With the Nokia 7610's browser,
users can view these services as WAP pages written in WML, xHTML, or a
mixture of both. The WAP 2.0 browser can transfer at increased speeds
by utilizing GPRS Class 6 (3+2) for increased bandwidth capabilities over
standard CSD networks. Providing high-speed, cost efficient access to
the Internet.
A Series 60 version of the Opera browser comes pre-installed on the
supplied memory card. The Opera browser supports HTML and CSS. However
it renders HTML pages down to fit the 7610's small screen size. But width
compression can be disabled as needed.
