Battery
The
Panasonic GU87 comes with a 720 mAh Li-Polymer battery. Panasonic claims
that the battery has a standby time of 220 hours and a talk time of 7 hours
and 30 minutes.
Many variables, including carrier signal strength at your location, signal
consistency (including incoming and outgoing calls), display and ringer
settings, and battery charging methods and history, will affect performance.
When handset manufacturers and mobile phone carriers list talk-time and
standby-time ratings, they usually include disclaimers about variable performance
and often refer to the times they publish as maximum times.
Connections
The Panasonic GU87's connections are located on the bottom of the phone.
An infrared port is included so you can transfer pictures and ring tones
to your phone. You can also send pictures taken by the digital camera directly
to your computer.

The File & Settings Menu is where you can customize the GU87. The GU87
supports midi format ring tones. The drawback is they don't sound as nice
as MMF format ring tones, however they are more convenient.
When you use the composer to create your own melodies, the GU87 saves
the music as IMY files. However, they are basically monophonic ring tones.
Making your own polyphonic ring tones requires you to use a computer based
midi software composer.
The display of the phone is changeable also. You can put 132 x 176 wallpaper
images, change the screen saver greetings, and assign pictures to contacts.
One very cool option on the GU87 is the ability to change the color of the
exterior LCD. You can choose between orange, blue, or green. You can also
pick different colors to set to different alerts. Very cool indeed.
