Connectivity
The Intrepid connects to a PC through a USB cable. Users can transfer
music and videos and sync calendar items, tasks and contacts.
The handset has Bluetooth technology to beam multimedia and contact information
to other devices and even use it as a PC modem.
Consumers can purchase additional Bluetooth accessories such as stereo
headsets to listen to music, headset and handsfree devices for conversation,
or even controllers to remotely operate audio and video.
The Intrepid has plenty of ways to connect -- to the Internet, to other
phones and to a computer.
Conclusion
The Intrepid's new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system is robust. For
busy professionals, the handset lets them read and edit Microsoft Office
documents, use TellMe for voice-activated commands and text messaging, follow
GPS and navigation tools and browse Windows Marketplace for Mobile to download
even more free and paid applications.
It also organizes operate multiple email accounts that get updated in
real-time, connects through four instant messaging clients, browses the
Internet with high-speed 3G speeds and Wi-Fi.
For a break, users can play games, read news feeds, listen to music,
watch TV and movies, and take photos with multiple editing and environment-adapting
options.
But it's professional, thin design leaves little room for a QWERTY keyboard
or touch screen. Combining both means there's not a lot of room for either.
And unless the touch screen is pressed hard and accurately, it doesn't do
the phone much justice.
The screen is a bit dim, sound quality is good but volume quiet, and
the camcorder doesn't pick up sound or dark objects well. Microsoft's Internet
Explorer browser isn't a favorite either.
Overall, the Intrepid could be much improved -- with a better browser,
better audio and a design that doesn't try to cram so much. But it works
for Windows fans that have a PC who need to use multiple email accounts,
get messages as quickly as possible, and read and edit important documents
on the go as well as sync the phone with devices used on their computer.
