Connectivity
With
the built-in infrared port, users can transfer files wirelessly to and from
the SGH-P777 and a PC. However, if a PC doesn't contain an infrared port,
a supplied USB data cable is capable of transferring multimedia as well;
whether they are files, photos, music, or games.
For synchronizing, the SGH-P777 also features SyncML. SyncML is the common
language for synchronizing all devices and applications over any network.
With SyncML any personal information, such as email, calendars, to-do lists,
contact information and other relevant data, will be consistent, accessible
and up to date, no matter where the information is stored.
Conclusion
Being touted as a multimedia phone, the Samsung SGH-P777 offers superior
imaging and audio capabilities.
The 1.3-megapixel CMOS camera captures excellent shots; high-resolution
photos with accurate exposure, although minor color misrepresentation at times.
Video recording is top notch as well, with recording times of up to 60 minutes.
Additionally, the large 262K color screen is vibrant and bright, with
exceptional clarity; top-of-the-line in today's marketplace. And the versatile
MP3 player is capable of storing over an hour's worth of music on its abundant
100 MBs of internal memory.
However, the lack of handsfree options is a potential disadvantage. Neither
Bluetooth connectivity, to pair wireless headsets, nor speakerphone functionality
is present. And the stereo headset jack uses a proprietary Samsung format,
only compatible with the supplied headphone.
But aside from these drawbacks, the SGH-P777 is a well-rounded phone,
with robust messaging functions including AOL and ICQ instant messenger
clients, high-speed EDGE transfer capabilities, downloadable J2ME applications
and games, and a sleek slide form factor.
Competitively priced, the SGH-P777 is an extraordinary value, and expected
to be one of the more popular phones on Cingular's network.
