The Funbox Menu is where you can browse the web, and play games. There
are three preloaded games on the SGH-V205.
Air Shooting is a vertically orientated airplane shooter game. The graphics
for this game look great, but the game play is a bit limiting, since all
you pretty much do is move left and right.
SpaceWar is a game similar to Erix from the Sony Ericsson. The object
of the game is to move around and make shapes while trapping various objects
that are moving around.
MyPet is a virtual pet game like Tamagotchi. You feed, bath, heat, play,
and discipline your pet.
If you've owned a SGH-S105 then these games should be familiar to you. Samsung
has reused the exact same games on the SGH-V205 as the SGH-S105. The only difference
is that now the ability to download java games were taken out of the SGH-V205.
So you're stuck with the games you got with the phone.
Sound Quality
Like
the SGH-S105, the SGH-V205 has excellent sound quality. Incoming calls were very
clean and clear. Also there are no significant traces of background hiss
that plagues GSM phones. If you've read our previous reviews you know that
this is caused by vibrations from the GSM technology in the earpiece. As
for outgoing calls, in quiet environments, the SGH-V205 performed just as
well. However in noisy situations, as you might expect, noise canceling
wasn't as significant as in other phones we've tested. This is the same
problem we've experienced with the SGH-S105. It doesn't seem that the SGH-V205 is
any different than the SGH-S105 in terms of clarity.
RF Performance
The SGH-V205 has excellent RF performance. The external antenna helps a lot
in this case. It can definitely hold its own in low signal areas. Although
in our tests the SGH-V205 had a slightly better signal to noise ratio than the
SGH-S105, virtually no differences could be seen. Rest assured, the SGH-V205 will
have no problems with reception from a hardware perspective. Tower distance
and signal strength is another matter. Overall the SGH-V205 is an excellent
phone from a reception standpoint, and gets our rating of:
Above Average
