Internet
EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) capability for wireless broadband lets
users explore media options through Sprint Power Vision, which opens the
door to the Sprint Music Store and Sprint TV, where customers can stay in-the-know
with the latest news clips or movie trailers.
News junkies can use the M500's Web browser to keep track of sports scores,
headline stories, weather and entertainment on full-color versions of select
Web sites like CNN.com. Other categories featured in the Web browser include
money, travel, shopping, and a section to manage Sprint wireless accounts.
Users may also bookmark favorite Web sites, search the Web or send a
URL to a friend via SMS text message. And with Sprint Power Vision's On
Demand service, consumers can customize the news and information they receive
according to their zip code so it will be automatically updated and sent
to their phone four times each day.
Storage
Internal
memory on the M500 is an ample 53.0 MB. But for large files such as storing
videos and music, using the external memory card slot is a must. Packaged
with a 32 MB microSD card, additional cards up to 2 GB can be purchased
separately. Sprint also gives users the option to email their video and
image files to an online album.
The M500's internal phonebook stores 500 contacts, but for each entry,
there's room to store five phone numbers (for a total of 2,500 phone numbers),
email and Web addresses, nicknames and memos. Users can also assign photo
IDs, ringtones and groups to contacts. Additionally, 98 speed dial locations
can be assigned with tracking for the last 20 incoming, outgoing and dialed
calls.
Connectivity
As a fairly popular and standard connectivity feature, the M500 is enabled
for Bluetooth-compatible devices like a headset or hands-free device, used
within a 10-meter or 30-foot radius.
Not limited to wireless conversations, various Bluetooth profiles allow
for a wide range of wireless functions. The M500 supports Dial-Up Networking
(DUN) profile for use as a modem in conjunction with a laptop computer;
Basic-Printing Profile (BPP) to transfer photos to a Bluetooth-compatible
printer via PictBridge; Object-Push Profile (OPP) for vCard, vCal, vMsg
and vNote transfers; File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to send files wirelessly;
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) to stream stereo MP3 music to
A2DP-compatible Bluetooth headsets or car radios; and Audio Video Remote
Control Profile (AVRCP) to remotely control A/V equipment such as TVs and
Hi-Fi equipment.
