Sendo X Review - Storage / Connectivity / Conclusion

Storage

The phone has a large 64 MB internal storage memory of which 32 MB is available for user applications. Nevertheless, the phone is capable of expandable MMC and SD cards. Now users can have large memory capacities in their phones for storing all the features the phone can do. As if that wasn't enough, the system also supports hot-swapping. Easily plug-in or remove the external memory cards as and when they require.

Connectivity

The X is a very well connected phone. It features all the latest PAN (Personal Area Network) technologies. Bluetooth, infrared as well as a USB data cable are included in the package. All this will ensure a seamless experience. Sendo has also mentioned that they will shortly be releasing a new Bluetooth car kit and headset.

Sendo X SyncThe good news is that the Sendo X supports user installable firmware upgrades. This means that users will have less trouble when they want to upgrade the firmware.

The phone also has an excellent document viewer which supports a wide range of file formats like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and ZIP. A CD is included in the package which contains over 40 additional document viewer plug-ins that will enable users to view other file formats on the phone.

Sendo officials have informed us that the phone will initially have a language pack consisting of 7 languages., English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. A simplified Chinese version is also on the cards.

Conclusion

Overall, the phone introduces some excellent features which take it beyond the realm of the ordinary crop of PDA-phones out in the market. The main rivals undoubtedly are the upcoming Sony Ericsson P900 and the new smartphones from Samsung and Handspring.

While offering better memory handling capacity and entertainment options than the P900, it remains to be seen whether the so-called enhanced Series 60 platform is really enhanced or not.

But the phone stays true on the catchphrase designed for it: "See More, Hear More, Connect More, Do More." It certainly has a "More" feeling to it. The phone should be officially released before the end of the year, in time for the holiday shopping season.
