The Siemens S55 has messaging functions similar to its predecessor the
S45i. It comes with T9 predictive text, which is nice if you type a lot.
The phone also contains MMS in addition to SMS and email. With MMS you can
attach pictures and sounds to your text messages. Even though it was once
new and all the rage, MMS is pretty mainstream with new phones nowadays.
But nonetheless, it's still nice to have and fun to send picture messages
to your friends.
Up to 100 messages and 5 SMS profiles can be saved on the S55, depending
on available dynamic memory of course.
The S55 also a fully functional email client. That mean POP3 and IMAP4.
Unlike other phones with watered down email clients, the Siemens S55 can
support SMTP authentication. Up to 4 email accounts can be stored. A maximum
of 50 emails can be stored on the phone. Email size is limited to 99 kb.
If you use XTNDConnect PC, you have the ability to synchronize with your
incoming and outgoing emails in Outlook or Lotus Notes.
Overall the messages functionality was exceptional. The Siemens S55 has
everything you can come to expect from phones today, and integrates all
the best things together. MMS, POP3, IMAP4, T9: it doesn't get much better
than this.
