With a complete range of business features, the Siemens S66 comes with
an extended organizer with to-do list, notes appointment and contact management,
email client, and wireless synchronization with Microsoft Outlook.
Other common software packaged in the Siemens S66 includes Alarm Clock,
Calculator, Countdown, File System, Tasks, Stopwatch, SyncML, and Voice
Recorder.
Allowing users to download and install new games and applications, the
S66 also supports the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME). As the most
popular Java platform for mobile devices, there are many software applications
already created, available for download.
The S66 features additional applications such as Cocktail Manager, Download
Assistant, Emergency Phonebook, Photo Editor, and Survival Dictionary. With
Cocktail Manager, users can mix drinks like a pro at the next party. While
the Download Assistant wizard helps the technologically challenged to download
multimedia for their phone. For the frequent traveler, Emergency Phonebook
provides a list of emergency phone numbers in most countries. And Photo
Editor allows users to edit photos directly on the S66; basic functions
such as cropping and resizing. Lastly, the Survival Dictionary is a predefined
language converter, translating common phrases from and into English, German,
French, Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish.
Preinstalled
games consist of SeaBattle, 3D Rally, and Worms. SeaBattle is the classic
Battleship grid game where users try to sink the opponent's ships first.
3D Rally is a racing game with realistic graphics; drive through courses
to become the champ. And Worms is the popular PC game where teams of worms
use bazookas, grenades, and other deadly weapons to take turns eliminating
each other. Quite entertaining with S66 support of multiplayer gameplay
across Bluetooth or GPRS.
Internet
While browsing the web, the S66 is built on WAP 2.0 with Class 10 GPRS
(General Packet Radio Service). GPRS is a non-voice high-speed service that
allows information to be sent and received across mobile networks. Being
Class 10, the S66 contains four downlink slots and 2 uplink slots resulting
in transfer speeds of up to 48 kbps and 24 kbps for receive and send rates
respectively.
Storage
The built-in Addressbook can store an impressive 1000 contacts with 22
fields, including nicknames, emails, and AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ screen
names. For storage, the S66 has 10 MB of internal memory, a generous amount
for photos, messages, emails, and applications. However should users need
more, the S66 comes with a 32 MB RS-MMC (Reduced Size MultiMedia Card) flash
memory card. More cards can be purchased and inserted through the expansion
slot located on the bottom of the S66.
