Basic Features
The call features on the W300i are standard, including such features
as Address Book, speed dial, speaker phone, Voicemail, and Caller ID. The
phone comes with some additional features, including Voice Command.
Contacts are stored either in the Address Book or on a Smart Chip, the
latter of which allows for the easy transfer of contact data from a previous
phone or to a future phone. Pictures and ringtones can be assigned to specific
contacts for both fun and easy identification. Users can organize individual
contacts into groups in order to send out messages to several recipients
at once. Up to nine numbers can be set to speed dial, using the keypad buttons
1 through 9.
Users may participate in conference calls with up to five parties. The
handset includes a speaker phone, while Voicemail and Caller ID are available
as a service plan options. An Accept Call service allows calls only from
previously approved numbers. The phone supports emergency calls to 911.
Voice
control allows users to create custom vocal commands which direct the phone
to dial, answer, or reject calls. Furthermore, once the user assigns a recorded
voice command for a specific contact, he or she can choose to have the phone
play the recording upon receiving a call from that contact.
The W300i offers all of the standard call features, such as Address Book,
speed dial, and speaker phone, as well as some convenient features, such
as voice dialing. Voicemail and Caller ID are available with certain service
plans. With these features, the W300i succeeds at its primary purpose, that
of telephone.
Screen
The two-color external LCD screen measures in 101 x 80 px. The orange-and-black
LCD is not as high-tech as some full-color external screens on the market,
but it certainly gets the job done, informing users of the time, date, signal
strength, battery charge and other relevant stats. An option allows use
of a standby clock, which produces a grayscale digital clock on the external
screen even when the phone is in sleep mode. Positioned on the front plate
in an aesthetically-pleasing spot a little lower than center, the external
screen meets all quick-information needs.
The internal 262K-color TFT screen, measuring 128 x 160 px, allows for
satisfactory viewing of photos, games, and video, as well as a colorful
navigation experience. Wallpaper may be set to a specific picture, or changed
along with a general display theme, of which four come pre-installed. A
screensaver is also available, taken from the still image of the user's
choice. Brightness can be adjusted to one of five levels.

The W300i's external and internal screens both meet the standard. Although
the two-tone external screen does not match a full-color screen for multiplicity
of hues, it covers the essentials, and should please users who are satisfied
with or even prefer simpler screens. The internal TFT screen adequately
presents various multimedia files, while display options allow for a personal
touch.
