Screen
The brilliant and beautiful 2.2-inch bright crystal screen on the W760a
takes up most of the phone's face when it is closed, and it showcases the
high quality photos and videos produced by the 3.2-megapixel camera.
The W760a's 320 x 240 px screen also makes games more enjoyable, with
enough room for the game to appear clear and detailed. The screen is TFT
or Thin Film Transistor LCD, meaning it produces sharper, more brilliant
images.
Sony Ericsson justifiably bills the high-resolution screen, with 262K
colors, an attractive feature for gamers and others who want to use their
phone to access multimedia and entertainment.
Compared to other phones on the market, the screen resolution is significantly
clearer than standard 176 x 220 px displays. At 262K colors, the LCD is
superb.
Audio
Music
is of course the central theme for the W760a and a unique feature of this
phone is the shake control used to shuffle, flip through and adjust volume
on tracks. While this function is still somewhat rare, Sony Ericsson has
used it before in the W580i phone. Other music features on the W760a include
stereo speakers and FM radio with Radio Data System for easy access to radio
channels and track identification. There is room for up to 20 preset channels
on the phone.
TrackID allows the user to sample a few seconds of a song playing on
the phone's radio or another source, and look up the song title, artist
and album information. The W760a stores up to 950 tracks.
The Walkman player supports a wide range of audio formats, including
MP3 and WMA, and it can be accessed by selecting Menu, AT&T Music and Walkman.
An option called SensMe creates playlists tailored to the user's mood.
To change the track playing on the Walkman Media Player, users can shake
the phone to the left or right while holding down the Walkman key on the
side of the phone. They can also shuffle tracks by holding down the Walkman
key and shaking the phone back and forth. If the user holds the phone out
in front of him or her, then pushes down the Walkman key and tilts the phone
upwards, the volume will increase. Tilting the phone down will lower the
volume.
Sound on the W760a was pretty decent, although the Mega Bass was not
noticeable without a headset. Users can take advantage of this feature with
a stereo Bluetooth headset or stereo hands free headset.
