Audio
The popularity of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones is evidence of its versatile
and robust audio capabilities. Following suit, the W810i offers an equally
outstanding mobile music experience without imposed limitations found on
many other devices.
Via USB 2.0 and through Disc2Phone PC software (included), consumers
can quickly load music tracks from their CD collection. Transferred in an
automatic Artist-Album-Title order, Disc2Phone makes it easy to sort, browse
and transfer to the W810i.
Able to hold approximately 150 music tracks on a 512 MB Memory Stick
PRO Duo (included), consumers can hold the equivalent of around 15 full
length CDs. Additional cards up to 2 GB can be purchased. Aside from MP3
and AAC files, the W810i also supports MP4, 3GP, AAC, AMR, MIDI, IMY, EMY,
and WAV (up to 16 kHz) formats.
Once loaded, consumers can launch the digital music player with the press
of the Walkman Key. Accessing their favorite tracks, the directional keypad
doubles as the music controller, allowing listeners to play, pause, or skip
around conveniently. And should a call come in while the music player is
active, users can pick up and pause with the press of a button, and start
off where they left off after hanging up.
Pressing
the Activity Menu Key also allows listeners to multitask with the music
playing in the background. Continuing to use the phone, users can send text
messages and load applications while enjoying the music.
The W810i also features an Equalizer for adjustments to Bass and Treble
levels. Three speaker ports along the back amplify music through Mega Bass
audio effects, ensuring a loud stereo sound for a wonderful surround sound
open-air music listening experience. For private listening, a Sony Ericsson
HPM-70 portable stereo headset is included, attached through the Connection
Port on the bottom.
If listening to the same songs gets tiring, the W810i also features a
built-in FM radio. Capable of storing 20 preset channels, consumers can
not only listen to live radio, but also access data through RDS (Radio Data
Support) feeds. Through RDS, digital text feeds sent out by radio stations
are broadcast to the W810i's screen, streaming information such as music,
news, and weather.
Able to function with radio transmitters and receivers turned off (Music
Mode), users can play music in airplanes, hospitals, and other situations
where cell phones may not be allowed. Also saving significant battery life,
the W810i can play music for up to 15 hours (Music Mode) rather than 8
hours (Normal Mode).
