Great phone, better than its Samsung Cousin

Reviewer: davigf on Wed Aug 15, 2007

Nokia is a better phone. Better sound quality, more features. Samsung (T409) has a better camera, and better organization. Its strength is in its larger screen and fewer strokes to text effectively. Sound quality on the Samsung is terrible (only 40 chords) compared to Nokia 6086 (60 chords). Max volume on the Nokia is also louder.
The Nokia also has a measurement converter that you can add your own conversions to, for you engineers. Samsung has a similar feature, but you cannot add to it.

Nokia 6086

icon_sad.gif It's a disappointment. I extended my contract to get this phone. I thought it was a great idea to have unlimited calls at home so I do not have to add anymore minutes to my plan and use it as a home phone also for additional $9.99/month. But it did not work. Most of the time people calls and they get a message that it had traveled out of the service area. I could not make any calls while connected to the wifi while I'm sitting 2 feet away from the router. Called so many times to Tmobile and tried to troubleshoot to no avail. They even sent me a replacement phone thinking it might be the phone, but it was not. Do not buy the phone until T mobile has perfected their wifi network. They told me to go to a T mobile hot spot like Starbucks and try it there. I said I'm not going to Starbucks or any Tmobile hot spot to make unlimited calls from my cellular phone. Otherwise the phone is great for cellular signal but not Wifi. Needless to say, I cancel the wifi service and added more minutes to my family plan instead. icon_mad.gif

Great little phone

Reviewer: hmcidc on Sat Sep 22, 2007

icon_biggrin.gif I purchased this phone when I switched from Nextel to T-Mobile and so far I am very impressed. It switches seamlessly from my home WiFi to regular cell service. I never could get coverage in my home and now I have 4 bars and the clarity is like a landline. I got the 300 anytime minutes plan and I haven’t even come close to using the minutes because when connect to WiFi the talk time is unlimited. I have seen better cameras and the display is rather bland and very hard to see on a sunny day but it does have lots of features like a cool FM radio. If you are a T-Mobile customer or considering switching, this phone would make good choice.
