My first smart phone
Reviewer: pocadotz on Fri Sep 12, 2008
I purchased this phone yesterday and its a great phone for people who want to transition to smartphones.
Texting was a little challenging when I started using the phone but became easier. I have larger fingers a few errors were made but nothing that couldnt be fixed with the Auto Text feature that corrects misspelled words.
The Curve has a dedicated voice command key which i found quite annoying at first but I learned to like it later esp. when i wanted to know my battery power, signal strength, or make a phone call while using only the provided earphones (offered by sprint)
The menu seems a bit overwhelming at first but with the setup wizard installed on the headset learning how to use the blackberry wasn't so difficult.
The feature i like the most is the light sensing technology, the backlight and screen automatically adjusts to lightness or darkness in a room or outdoors
Themes can be adjusted to items used the most, and a layout you prefer
Call quality is superb, sounds seemed to be in stereo, people on the other end could hear me well with the handset or the headset.
The camera is better than most, also comes with a FLASH!
Has an automatic ON, for example you can set yout blackberry to turn off at 12 am and turn on at 6am to save battery power
CONS: battery power seems to be drained very quickly, but that could be due to my usage, trying to understand everything.
the trackball doesnt wrap i.e. if you scroll to the bottom of a menu, the menu doesnt wrap to the beginning of the menu
Micro SD card is located behind the battery
When the music media player is activated you must completely close the application otherwise the music will keep playing while you use other applications
There are several steps involved when sending a text a few too many if you ask me, but there are "shortcuts" that can be utilized to make sending message quicker
Would be nice if there were word prediction although there is a QWERTY.
There is no power-save that doesnt involve the phone turning off
Overall I give this phone 4 out of 5 stars simply due to the battery life. Compared to a Palm Centro i prefer the blackberry for its wider keyboard surface.
If you decided to purchase this phone i highly recommend purchasing a screen protector and a hard or gel case. 1 they both protect your phone from scratches, and rub, but also allow you to customize your phone without spending too much dough.

Love this BlackBerry
Reviewer: Pagan on Fri Jan 02, 2009
This is my first experience with BlackBerry but not with smartphones.
This smartphone really is smart. It's so much easier to use and very intuitive. I love the way it helpful without slowing you down after familiar with the functions. The light sensing is great as I drive at night and it doesn't blind me, while it brightens up automatically after sunrise. Another feature others don't talk about much is the exceptions in the profiles. I sleep days and I have several contacts that the phone rings regardless of profile. This allows me to ignore rest of the contacts and sleep while still receiving the needed wake up call. Of course the yahoo, email, and sms on one device always with me is the most important feature!

The phonebook capacity is limited to the space on the phone could hold up to 500 contacts including title, first and last name, home and work addresses and phone numbers, mobile number, anniversary, birthday, and custom ringtone
